Hello everyone,
After renting the game and going from hating it to loving it I am ready to buy this game. I looked at my options and there is either the regular edition for $20 at walmart or the collector edition for $30 at gamestop.
Is the CE worth the extra 10 bucks or is it a gimmic? It said that there was a featurette of past FFs and art and such.
Thanks,
Jeremy

its a really nice tin and the ff history featurette is pretty good. not bad for $30 i'd say. its a better dvd than whats in many other collectors editions. this coming from someone who doesnt like the FF series.

fair enough...that shiny box did catch my attention...especially since it is flush with plastic cases...there is nothing worse and a special edition box that sticks out on the shelf

I picked up a used, but MINTY copy of the CE for $19.99 at Gamestop a few weeks ago.

actually, both editions are 17.99 used at gamestop, it became a greatest hits title not too long ago.

yes, used, but not new.
In any case I shelled out the 30 bucks. I guess I wouldn't be hanging around this board if there wasn't a impulsive collector in me haha.

I wen't for the used CE at Gamestop myself. I don't actually like the game too much, but it was a better deal than the non-CE.

To buy the collectors edition makes more sense than defeating Yiazmat in the game. :)
The collector's edition is certainly worth having, in particular for $20 and less. The case is nice, and the "making of"-DVD gives you a nice overview of the FF series with commentary and game footage in addition to the developer interviews of FFXII.
I haven't seen yet the FFXII Greatest Hits version, it is scheduled for the end of October if I remember correctly the official Sony PS2 site. (although I put it in the list of the PS2 RPG thread a couple of days ago.)
