Ha ha--that's pretty funny.

And for sure Halo is the cause of low ticket sales, right Hollywood? It couldn't possibly have anything to do with all the crappy movies you've released lately. :P

Seems like Hollywood will blame anything except themselves. Oh, high ticket prices are what's causing us problems, no wait, it's home theater systems, no, i mean it's videogames!

Eastern Promises kicked ass. Nobody went to see it, though :(

I'm actually looking forward to 30 Days of Night.

Hollywood is always looking for an excuse...

how about "really shitty movies" behind low movie attendance.

I'm sure Halo contributed in it's own way, but seriously, this time of year is the dumping ground for Hollywood movies - too late for a summer blockbuster, to early for a winter family film, and most major chain multiplexes aren't booking the traditional kind of art-house films that release in the fall and DO draw that type of crowd this year because they're desparately scrambling to re-coup on the dissapointing summer profits (or lack thereof) by booking extra prints of tripe like "Good Luck Chuck".

I manage a movie theatre, so I'm in the thick of this right now.

There's really nothing to blame but substandard product at the box office.

(And yes, Eastern Promises did kick ass ... I love Cronenberg, and his recent non-sci-fi turn if you could call it that has proven to be fantastic)

Take a look at the movies that premiered that week which broke the top 10:

2. The Heartbreak Kid
5. The Seeker: The Dark Is Rising
8. Feel the Noise

Yeah, low ticket sales couldn't be due to the movies being released.

I think that article got it backwards - crappy movie releases helped propel Halo 3 sales. :)
