Mega Man: I'm stuck

So I'm playing the original Mega Man game and have gotten to the first Dr. Wily stage. Laugh at me if you want, but I am stuck in the middle of the stage I think. I attached a screenshot of the part I'm stuck with. I think I've tried using all of my items but I don't know what I am doing wrong? Anybody have some advice?

I wish I could use Rush in this game! :)

Heya Nintendork,

You need the Magnet Beam. It is in Elec Man's stage behind some bricks you can move with the Super Arm (Guts Man's weapon). You make a shelf to your right, hop on it, then another shelf to your left from there, rinse, repeat.

Yep, I've been there too without the magnet beam. Your game is over at that point. Sucks even worse if you're using an emulator, and saved it somewhere in that level.

you just have to lose all your lives and select stage select on the continue screen if that happens

I always thought it added replayability, and remeber megaman had a score so you could try to get the highest score possible by beating stages over and over (once you beat the game it lets you go back with you current score and continue if you so choose)

amusingly enough that "shoddy" gameplay idea was restored in the later mm games so you could go back and find extra stuff in just about every level once you had certain items.

I was not aware you could replay stages that way. It does indeed put the Magnet Beam in a new light.

(Of course, you'd still have to beat Elec Man again. Yuck.)

just beat gutsman first :-)

(you can use either the strong arm or elec beam to break the blocks)
