So I was using my Game Action Replay device one day when playing Crystal Mine and when I reloaded the game from my save point instead of returning to the level I was at I ended up in Level 0. I was not able to reproduce the effect, but I did take photographs of the level. Here are the highlights of the level:
1. You start on-top of the screen. In crystal mine you have a play field, enclosed by impenetrable blocks, but in level 0 you actually start outside of these bricks. That is my robot on top of the screen in the first picture
2. You start off with 255 lives, though it only shows 254 on the screen since you use a life to start off
3. You only have 35 seconds of game time
4. The level indicator says its level 0
5. Before you start each level you get a screen that indicates the level you are going to play. When I reloaded my game action replay device the title screen said level 0 on it.
Basically you can move about on top of the bricks and can actually move off the screen, but you cannot move into the enclosed game play area. So it isn’t that impressive, but I thought it was pretty interesting. I know this isn’t an actually secret, but more like a technical glitch.
