I have not bought a PS3 game since I got the system back in december, and Folklore is the first ps3 game (besides warhawk) that has caught my attention as a potential buy. I read a couple of reviews and just played the demo on PSN today and it seems like a fun game, my only question is if it is too repetitive or not as the game seemed pretty linear in the demo, however I noticed there is an option for quests in that pub.
Anyway if anyone has played it I would love o hear some impressions. I would rent it but even if the game is 15 hrs long I dont have alot of time these days and I would end up keeping it out from gamefly for way too long.

I think Meancode has played it, I think he said it was pretty good. I was going to pick it up myself but I'm going to try the demo first.
I bought it on release day. This is one of those games of the type that they no longer make. The game is made to be savoured slowly. As you walk through the fairy world take the time to admire every square inch of what the graphic artists did. It's very whimsical in nature. Definitely not for the instant gratification "gotta beat the game" crowd. The game is full of sound and visual detail. The crunch of stones on the beach is exactly as it should sound. The graphics will make your eyes bleed.
Gameplay? Think Silent Hill with the level-up system of an RPG. The story is very meaty and will have you thinking "wtf?" and "aha...so THAT'S why!!" quite often as you get deeper into the mystery. You have two distinct characters that attack the solving of the murder from two different angles. You fight the same bosses twice....once with each character....but in different ways. It's almost like two different bosses because of this. It's your choice whether you want to play the whole game with the girl then the whole game with the guy....or alternate between them after each chapter.
Want different? Want a graphics showcase for your non-PS3 friends to see? Want an intelligent piece of storytelling? Go get it.

If it werent for Ratchet and Clank coming out (and GH3), I would have picked the game up already. Theres been a bunch of demos released for it, so try it out and see if its your type of game

I liked the demo, and the concept of the game is neat, but i'm wondering how consistent the art direction is, cause near the end of the demo the stages seemed to get a bit bland.
There is no multiplayer or online with this game is there?

I picked it up on release day but just got around to playing it, it's amazing. I loved the demo, and am very pleased with the full game. If you like the demo, you will like the game- if you didn't like the demo, you will not like the game.

I'm not very far into it, but my first impression is very positive. It's not an exact analogy, but it feels to me like an evolution of the old sierra adventures (minus the parser). At least it gives me the same feeling. Gorgeous graphics and thoughtful presentation. Don't know how the story will measure up, but so far it's compelling. It's good enough to have drawn me away from Bioshock, for the time being.
