View Full Version : Resident Evil 4 ebay frustration

I am trying to get a copy of RE4 for the Wii for around $20 shipped. I figure that's not bad for a used copy. But these freaking morons on Ebay are bidding over $25 for this game -- $25 plus $6 shipping for a $30 game? Some of the bids alone are over $30! WTF?

I can only assume they don't realize it's $30 new and think they're getting a good deal.

Until two seconds ago, I had assumed it was a $50 game too.

Of course, I'd of been smart enough to check before making a bid.

Buy it for 30 at the store , pratically every store has that version in stock.

I know it's not rare -- I'm just being cheap. I usually rent, but Blockbuster doesn't carry M rated games.

It's really worth the extra $10.

If you think buying the game is frustrating... just wait until you play it!!!!

That's why I play with the GameCube controller.

A similar situation:

Devil May Cry 5th Anniversary collection has an MSRP of $30. And there's copies on eBay for $45-$55. PLUS SHIPPING. The game is more or less out of print, you won't find it in many stores anymore, so people take advantage of that and rape people on eBay. I should know, I do it too. :p

I had to find my copy of the game at GameStop of all places.

I had this for the Wii a few months ago and took it back. I liked playing this on the GC better. I just did not like the Wii controls for this game. I kept trying to move around like redsteel or CoD3. I just got Metroid 3 and it controls great like these other games. There's just something about RE4 I don't like on the Wii.

Also, FWIW, there are still copies around at the Gamestop stores near me so you should be able to find one if you go out and look.

I got RE4 for PS2 with the Chainsaw controller for like $30 shipped last year.

Blockbuster doesn't carry M rated games.

When did this start? Do you live in one of 'those' areas?

I haven't heard of Blockbuster not carrying M rated games either.

As long as we're all regaling each other with our RE4 purchase stories :)

I found the RE4 PS2 chainsaw controller new at Gamestop for $20 this year, and the only thing it was missing was the small top rectangular cover flap for the DVD Game Case (who steals something like that?) had everything else.

Tried using it once. Totally un-playable with the thing. But it makes an AWESOME display piece.

I live in NJ about 20 min outside of NYC, and of the four BB's I've been to, none have RE4 for rent or sale, used or new. Unless they just don't like this game, I assume it's because it's M rated. BB doesn't carry NC17 movies either (but if the same movie came with NR, that's okay).

The game is totally worth $30.

But NC17 is NOT like an M rated game. It's more like an R rating. The only game rating that would be comparable to NC-17 is AO. And you know that's not going to intentionally happen with console games.

Maybe BB is cutting back on the games they're getting as a whole and focusing on the big stuff like AAA titles and sports games for the Xbox and PS2/3? With plans like Gamefly, I can't see how $8-9 rentals for 5 days are still that viable anyway. Especially since places are getting fewer and fewer copies for rent to begin with.

You most likely won't find that game used at a BB unless you happen to have a Game Rush store attached to it. It's still too new, and it usually takes a long time before they PPG(previously played game) a title.

Check Hollywood Video or whomever is the competition in the area. You should have no problem finding it there.

Or, you could just drop the extra $10. I figure all of the time you've spent looking for it and posting about it here would more than justify the cost.

Actually, it's $10 for 42 days. That is, $7.99 plus tax for a 5 day rental, a 7 day grace period, and then a 30 day return window where you get charged $1.25 restocking fee. You should be able to beat the game or get bored by that time.

And if you have an online account, you get a coupon every month for a free movie OR game. So then it's just $1.25.

That's why I rent games from Blockbuster.

Apparently, they do carry M rated games (at least for PS and XBox). I just don't know why RE4 isn't anywhere. Has anyone seen RE4 for Wii at a Blockbuster?

And, all the Hollywood Video stores closed in my area (lots of firesales to check out), so there is no more competition.

At first I felt that the controls were horrible, but I stuck with it and after a while you just "get it" and find that it's a great control setup. Now I can't imagine playing it any other way. I think the biggest thing to get used to is that you DON'T have to move your character around when you're aiming your gun. Like you had to on the Cube and PS2. Just move the camera where you can get a good field of view, THEN point with the remote where you want to fire. It makes getting headshots stupid easy.
