To make a long story short, my wife is from the Ukraine. She was adopted at seven and started school late, she struggles at math and reading. She wanted me to find some decent puzzle or educational games for her. I know about Brain Age and stuff for the DS but I can't afford one just now. Are there any good ones for classic systems? Is Mario Is Missing, DK math and Math Blaster and such any good? If not recommend some more.

Thanks in advance.

Mario is Missing is about learning Geography with some history, and Mario's Time Machine is pretty much just history, and not as good imo. I think Mario is Missing gets a bad rap and really isn't that bad.

I feel weird for suggesting this for an adult, but when I was little, I played Number Munchers and Word Munchers for Apple IIe a lot. I bet they made it for DOS as well.

You know Zoombinis [sp?] right? It used to be Mac only, but I'm certain it's now on PC.

Ah, I played that game to death when I was in school.

Wordtris for the Super NES.

Have you considered buying her some of the higher level Leapster-like products? I think those would be more fun and helpful than any "educational" title on a classic system.

I liked DK Jr. Math, it has a good scoring system.

I haven't considered the Leapster, it sounds good but I don't know enough about it yet. I'll have to start doing my homework on it though. Thanks for that mention though.

I appreciate everyone's other mentions, I never thought about Wordtris, I may even own that game. Have to track it down as well.
