Yeah i'm using that trick. Although i did it another way i glued down the sensor, removed the cd breaking mechanisme and soldered a toggle switch to the powerboard of the pstwo.

Now after doing so all I have to do is pop one of the Swap Magic discs in, load it up and then switch to an import or burned disc? Does this mod still allow regular PS2 games to be played normally?

Yeah it's as easy as that. And regular ps2 games will still work ofcourse.

lol, the tape down works on the door switch, but tissue? There have got to be more aesthetically pleasing options than tissue.

Swap Magic is hit or miss, I have a flip lid casemod on my fat PS2 and Swap Magic V.2 discs ... most games post 2003 have swap magic protection built in, require a second stage "Swap Disc" (there are various versions) and a game with a huge FAT table like Devil May Cry 1.

I know that V.3 is a bit better, but still not 100%.

I also have a HDD boot loader, which I like a lot better.

And the question begs to be asked ... if somebody is comfortable enough opening up their Slim PS2 for tape and tissue modding, why not just buy a flip-top lid case?

They're relatively cheap (under $20) the Slim PS2 is as easy to case mod as the PS1...it's as simple as removing some screws, and dropping the entire internals into the new case...and when you're done you can have a cool colored slim PS2.

I understand tape and tissue is a virtually no-cost solution, but if you're going to invest in a Swap Magic setup, go all out ... the flip lid will also contiune to allow for 2-disc games to be played ... because once you tape down that door button, forget about "switching to disc 2" at a halfway point.

That is why i soldered a toggle switch. Till now everything works using my swap magic 3.3 cd's. The only game i had to use a TOC cd switch for was gran turismo 4 but i bought that anyway.

I've got the swap magic set 3 set, just haven't been able to get the pieces right in my ps2 (I think I have a later ver then what I ordered, I gotta check).

I have the SCPH-70001 slim ps2 model.
