So who else is on the verge of hyperventilation because it's finally coming out tomorrow? I'll probably be up for a few online games later in the evening (can't wait to see how co-op plays).

I am. But I pre-ordered the flight stick bundle thru Amazon and it's not set to ship until the 29th for some reason. I guess I'll have to keep playing Halo 3 in the meantime.

any ideas on how hard to find the flight stick combo will be?
it seems that recently "limited edition" is limited to everyone who preorders it as well as several thousand extra...

I've heard they're making only 10,000, but I can't say for sure if that accounts for the US only. You might be able to get one without a preorder if you act fast, but don't count on them sitting around on shelves for months. (When's the last time you saw the AC5 stick in a shop?)
I got the call from Gamestop saying it'll be in tomorrow. I also talked to a guy at the store where I reserved it, and he said the first 8 that pick up will get an extra "limited edition" faceplate, in addition to the one in the bundle. Stores may vary in this regard, though.

Ugh, I hadn't even known it was coming out tomorrow until yesterday. I hadn't planned anything around getting it, so unfortunately it'll be a couple weeks.
I swear, so many games have come out recently that I need to get. I've actually set up a timetable for it.

Okay, I've put in a few hours so far. The game is completely sweet, but the cut scenes are even cornier than before, if you can believe it. The stick is great, except for the rudder lever on the throttle, which is really, really uncomfortable to use if you've got small hands. :(
Also, I had a go at a 16 player team battle online. It's friggin' crazy.

I know Hori made a rudder foot pedal controller add-on for the PS2 Ace Combat stick, so maybe they'll make one for the 360 (or maybe the PS2 one will work with the 360 stick?). I tried ordering it when it was first released but couldn't score one because it was only available directly thru Hori and they don't ship to the US. :-/

I was actually thinking about rigging up some Logitech wheel pedals. I wonder if I could build a passthrough that sits between the two units, and has a breakout socket to connect the pedals...

Just pick up mine with Flight Stick. After I get used to the game a bit, we should all exchange Gamertags and rock a death match with Flight Stick onlys.

Anyone interested in entering the military vs. civ competition? I just want to do it for fun, pretty much guaranteed a t-shirt and hat. Send me a PM, and we'll see if we can figure out a way to rock this.

I just finished the campaign mode and had a good time with it but does anyone else think that online play is a complete bore-fest? There are several different game types and maps but they pretty much all play exactly the same: keep flying around in circles and keep using special weapon missiles until you blow someone up. But everyone else is flying around in circles too and doing high-g turns, so it's almost impossible to get a hit. If you do decide to fly straight, someone will lock-on and blow you out of the sky within 3 seconds, so everyone just keeps flying in circles and loops.
Anyone else feel the same? Kinda bummed because I passed on GHIII to get the flight stick bundle. Almost wish I didn't now.

OK, I finally got a 360 again and have been playing this with the flight sticks. Superb AC game! I'm really enjoying the missions and the graphics in HD are just off the charts awesome. I like using the flight sticks a whole lot better than a standard controller, too, which I wasn't all that sure about before.
Any of you want to battle multiplayer? My gamertag is geneshifter. Add me if you want to play sometime :) As soon as Monday rolls around, I'll me in Mario mode for a while so be patient, lol.

I never really considered this game until recently. I heard some good things about it, but the demo was lackluster and the review are sub-par. I have never really played an Ace Combat game before. A lot of my friends work with airplanes and thus were interested in the game. I am wondering if I should pick it up or not.

i like the game, its pretty good, but honestly what makes it about 5 times better are they flight sticks. its just not the same w the regular controller.
i havent tried it online, im honestly not too hot for online play in general, only PC-FPSs ill take online. other than that i love MMORPGs, but thats it.
i feel i got my money's worth. its a very high quality controller and very beautiful game, i actually enjoyed the cut scenes and thought they added an interesting flavor to an otherwise story-less and personality-less game.
