Now THIS is good news!

After 11 years of dying to play this unreleased gem, there's a slim chance we might get to play it soon!

Playstation Museum (http://www.playstationmuseum.com/Games/BETA/BTA-076.htm) Have got their hands on the beta build for review, along with brand new pics and video footage.

Do you guys think that they'll preserve it and release it online? If so, is that a good thing in your opinion?

I'd love to see it released to the public, but it's far more likely that it'll just be hoarded or shared only amongst highly trusted friends until people donate enough dollars to convince the person to rip and release it. That's the way it almost always goes down.

I really doubt PlaystationMuseum will release an iso of it. I saw the vid at Kotaku earlier today, and it was nice, since I'm an oldschool RE fan. But I'll never play it.

If it was an "unreleased gem" don't you think Capcom would have released it as a bonus with one of the zillion RE games they put out?
*edit*
I just read the part where the people on the site say how they put more hours into RE 1.5 than RE2, and how it'd get perfect scores. While the game might be good, let face it- they're not going to say it sucks, then people wouldn't be jealous of them for being able to play it :)

Unless there's some weird issue with the game I don't know about? Anyway, it would be cool to play a "new" old school RE since those were my fav.

I think it'd be interesting to know for real why the rather interesting original concept was completely abandoned halfway.

If it did get completed [and really, how likely is that?], it'd be very exciting to compare the 2 versions

I have a review with Shinji Mikami in an old issue of GameFan where he discusses this very issue in minnimal detail. I'll see if I can dig it up.

At any rate, I'm happy someone finally got a hold of this, I've seriously been hoping for the moment that someone would prove a playable build of this still exists.

Yay. :)

It'll get released, just you wait.

I hope you're right Kazuo, as many people would love to go out and fire this version up from the looks of things.

True, I'd love a copy to play.

Just wanted to bump this back up to see if maybe there was some new info on it. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that this will be released to the public in playable form.

A couple of us tried to put together a little somethin-somethin to get this out there, but came to the realization that PSX museum may in fact be insane... His responses to our emails didn't make a whole lot of sense.

Don't worry, in about two years he'll bump this thread out of the archives with more insanity.

That doesn't sound promising. So I guess the chances of getting this in playable form are slim to none. :(

Holy craptastical zombie licker!

I thought I had seen it all when I went out of my way to purchase the Japanese version of Bio Hazard Director's Cut Dual Shock edition just to see the exclusive Bio Hazard 1.5 footage and now it has been trumped by seeing footage of an actual "Resident Evil 2" prototype.

Pardon me while I jump for joy, dance a little jig and collapse to the floor after realizing that my chance for actually playing this game will be next to nil. :(
