Is it funny? And I mean, really, genuinely funny for adults, not pokemon-cartoon-funny.

Let's be honest - the only reason people adored the games you mentioned was because of the winning and incredible sense of humor. As point-and-click adventures go they were, well, they were okay. But they were less fun than some of their competitors because their solutions rarely relied on actual logic or anything that made sense.

I loved all the games you mentioned. If Zak and Wiki is funny like them then, yes, I'll go buy it. And soon.

As WiseSalesman says, Maniac Mansion, Full Throttle and Day of the Tentacles were great games most because of their humor, how is Zack & Wiki compared to the the humor these 3 games had? I also loved the 2d gfx, it gave the games a special feeling or what i shall say. 3d adventures can be fun, but they dont give me the same feeling as a good old 2d adventure game. These games also had many commands to choose from, like talk to, pick up, use.. and so on. They also had an inventory of stuff. Is Zack & Wiki like this too? I've seens some in-game movies and i havnt seen anything like this.

But anyway, i do think Zack & Wiki looks like a fun game. If i had a Wii i would most likely try it out :)

Okay, to put it bluntly, this game does skew kinda young. Not for babies young, but the humor is kind of Saturday morning cartoon-ish, rather than Dora the Explora-ish. But what really separates the men from the boys/kids are the puzzles. And trust me, as you get to the later levels, it gets hard as HELL. Like Old Skool hard...but that's a good thing!

Lotta Capcom fanservice too....like I had to shake the Wiimote to the beat of a tune, and a warm fuzzy enveloped me as I realized I was jamming along to the music from the 1st stage of The Speed Rumbler (one of my all time favorites!).

But yeah, check IGN's review (http://wii.ign.com/articles/829/829301p1.html) (they gave it a 9.0)....it's very thorough.

I've only gotten through a few levels but I agree! It is a blast to play this game. Its funny someone mentioned pokemonish..because Wikki sounds just like some sort of long lost pokemon. And I mean..he SOUNDS like a pokemon, usually saying his name as he talks and such.

The graphics are better than Zelda: Wind Waker even if they are cell shaded still. Mainly because the animation is done better and it seems like everything is moving in the game in some way.

The puzzles are great and while I haven't come across anything that was impossible yet (Especially since I'm only a few levels in), I'm still digging the thought required to get through a stage.

There really isn't an inventory as you can really only hold one object at a time to use. If anything, I think of this game more like Lost Vikings, or Goblins in the way the gameplay works. The game could easily be thought of as 2D because you can't really see more than about 120 degrees. I was even laughing when I saw the plane had the cutoff section and then later the waterfall with the obvious cutoff...actually a very clever artistic look.

You may have had Speed Rumbler...but I had the main theme to Ghosts N Goblins when I played the phonograph bones dude...hehe. Also there are hidden treasures that will sometimes only pop up when you replay a level. As an example and this is a spoiler. But I redid the first stage again to maximize the points, and instead of coins coming out from under a rock, a little badge in the shape of the Vulgus ship came out instead?! It even appears in my mystery treasure log and talks about how this game was the first game Capcom made...etc.

With that...I suspect lots and lots of Capcom history to be hidden and show up in the game as I play through multiple times.

For the $39 price it commands, I'd say it is more than worth it.

It's getting good reviews. I also read that some of the puzzles can be overly challenging. I'm having trouble finding games I want to play on my Wii, this might be nice until Mario is available...

Its funny, I haven't been watching this game or checking up on it at all in the past several months. Then, the last two or three weeks I have been hearing all of these great things about, as well as several great reviews. So, I decided, on a whim, to buy it a couple of days ago. Awesome! Its very fun. Great graphics. Great uses of the Wii Remote. Great, and difficult, puzzles. It has a very "old school" feel to it. One of the best Wii games out. I highly recommend it.

I just beat the first world (like 6 levels) and I must say this game is really good. Things start out easy but it ramps up pretty fast, the boss level had me thinking on certain parts for a good while. Some people will be better at this game than others, this is really my first true game of this sort that I have played much of, so I find the puzzles very enjoyable and its a totaly fresh experience for me. Like it was mentioned before, the humor (so far) is saturday morning cartoon-esque, nothing that had me LOLing but some stuff makes you smile. Overall its a very charming and fun game, I think this is just the type of game the Wii needs in its library. What is funny is today at work a couple had 4 games in their hands that they were trying to decide which to get, I told them about zak and wiki and insisted they get it over the others (sonic, carnival, spyro, and another I forgot) so I convinced them to get a game they never heard of, yes its that good.

Yeah, I just finished the first world a little while ago too. Have you gone to the level "The Crystal Key" in the next world yet? O_O Man, I was stuck on it for a good thirty minutes. It might be really easy for some people, but it was sure hard for me.

I played through the first world (5-6 stages), and it is an exellent game. It does have a lot in common w/ classic point-and-click adventure games, but it isn't necessarily the exact same kind of game. Z&W is almost an action-puzzler dressed in point-and-click clothes. Each level is a discrete puzzle - finish it and choose another one to go to from a home base "hub." The classic-style games wrapped the puzzles in more of an overall story or adventure. Not that one style is better or worse, it's just a different type of setup. The animation in Z&W is superb, the puzzles are clever and fun, and it has a great sense of humor. Definitely recommended.

I played the crystal key lastnight, it was not too bad, although I could see the reason why people would get extremely stuck. Infact I got stuck on the next 2 levels, the ice guardian one (I broke down after awhile and used my first hint, it was so obvious too!) and the next one was the one where the chest is in the ice block, honestly though I was so stuck I had to use anoher hint and what it revealed probably would have taken me forever to figure out. I went in telling myself I would not use any hints, but I figured it was not worth the aggrivation of possibly never returning to the game.

And oh boy the 2nd world boss level sure looks like fun... if you enjoy torture of the brain that is.

*bumping an old thread*

I've been playing zack and wiki this weekend and ... I'm not sure what to think.

I love the fact that its a classic point and click adventure game. I don't really care for it being 3D because on some stages parts of the level obstruct other parts of the level. Plus, sometimes that camera gets retarded and decides it wants to go look at something else.

I hate the fact that there is no inventory. You can carry one item at a time. You pick something up, you drop what you're carrying. It leads to a lot of needless running around.

I also hate the fact that you can die so easily. Wait, scratch that, I don't hate that you can die. That's fine. I hate that when you die you either have to start the entire level from the very beginning or use a free man. Free men are limited and every time you buy one, it costs more than the prior one. It sucks. I wish there was a way to save your progress or auto-save so you didn't have to repeat 20 minutes of work because some fireball got you at the last second.

I also hate the japanese humour. I'm sure it might be funny to their culture, but I can't stand it. It seems childish to me (maybe it's made for japanese children?). For instance, if Zack stands there for only 5 seconds he'll start snoring. I don't mind an idle animation, but 5 seconds? Give me a break. Also, the voices of these characters make me want to kill everyone everywhere. Also, there's a rabbit character who always have snots hanging from his nose. Is this funny? no.

I'm torn. I hate everything I outlined above, but I like the idea of the game. And the puzzles are interesting. Some are easy, some are hard. It's a nice balance, but gets a little too tough. It seems to me that they have the shell of an excellent game, but just buggered up the execution.

Zack and Wiki 2: Zack and Wiki make a porno

If you thought that the original Zack and Wiki made good use of the wiimote's capabilities, just wait to see what they've done this time around. Spinning, twisting, thrusting, pinching... this game's got it all.

Can someone please photoshop a Wii game cover for this? That'd be hilarious :D

I've put some time into this game but I got stuck at one part at the end of a level. I had to play through the whole thing each time just to try and get past the last segment. I got pretty bored of it and I haven't tried again.

I stopped playing it because of the dying part. Spend 20 minutes solving puzzles and die because you hit a switch you weren't supposed to. Ugh. I use trial and error in my puzzle games and this game punishes you for that.

Also the motion controls don't work most of the time.
