I was actually surprised to see this:

Its a repro bought from nesreproductions.com for $25.00. Whether they honestly think the game is a genuine release or they are just assholes trying to pull one off on someone I am not sure. That question will be answered if they revise their auction or not, I emailed them and brought it to their attention.

Has anyone heard of this "HOTMAN" game these folks claim they'll be listing within the next few days? I'm not seeing anything in the DP ORG, but the auctioneers are saying "In this lot we purchased, we also found a game called HOTMAN. We will be listing this game next. This is not in the MGI Price Guide, this is not even on Mike Etler's list. HOTMAN is the #3 most rarest game ever made for Nintendo. This game is only mentioned on the Internet. Check it out."

Does this game even exist? I'm doubting it...***EDIT*** Wait...is this another repro? I found the auction, which the owners closed early "because of an error in listing." Here's the link:

I apologize if I'm being a royal pain in the butt here, but I assure you I approach my precious metals collection/dealing with the same overbearing enthusiasm, so you're not the only ones being victimized by someone who loves what he's doing. :p

Just based on the quality of the labels I would say they are both repros.

they're definitely both repros, those labels appear on the NESReproductions website. And after reading through their action descriptions (HOTMAN IS THE #3 MOST RAREST GAME ON THE NES!!!!1one!!) I'd say these guys are just trying to screw people.

Quick update: got a response for my e-mail about Hotman.

"i got it from a lot on ebay... i have removed it though because a lot of people said it might be a reproduction.. i still have it though"

I've yet to meet a scammer with a firm grasp of the English language, but at least this guy did take down the auction.

Hmmm...you're likely correct. I'm rather taken aback by how the seller has not put a reserve price on the item...with only four days left and a bundle of silver sitting in my house waiting to be cashed in, I'm going to be watching this one verrrry closely.

If only I had a chance, or the money, to afford what this will end at.

Isn't the mediaglobal user the one that ripped off the DP guide? Wouldn't buy anything from that user in any case. I like how "Hotman" is also "only mentioned on the internet". Gotta laugh. "t3h internets s3z s0!!!!! st00p1d"

Really?

Is there any thread I could read that might help?

I just remember reading a thread a few months ago here on DP about someone ripping off the guide and selling it on eBay. But anyway, if you check his (mediaglobal's) feedback you'll notice that the guide is one of the main things he sells. You'll also notice that on the actual listing page he feels the need to say odd things like "we haven't ripped this off," but in slightly more vague terms.
