I have been playing Donkey Kong Country 2 lately, and completed the original along time ago, I also had DKC2 pretty far but then it was erased and it took me a few hours to get back to my point. Now i'm pretty far. Anywho, is the DK versions like 1 2 and 3 on SNES done with?. It would be great to see them on the Wii, but now we have this "Jungle Climber" and "barrel Blaster" etc. It just isn't as fun as they used to be, anyone agree?.

For more DKC feeling goodness get DK64. That game I feel, is solid and very good and deserves to be included with the DKC titles.

Firstly I edited the title so its just a *smidge* less vague.
Secondly Rare did all the DKC and they also did DK 64 (the spirtual successor to DKC). I highly doubt that Rare is ever going to touch DK again (yes they did Diddy Kong Racing DS, and worked on the GBA DK re-releases) but I don't think that Nintendo is going to try and have Rare do any more major work on anything. Nintendo has taken Donkey Kong into minor roles since, DK: King of Swing series, Donkey Konga series and the ilk is where he is now.

I've been playing through DKC 2 as well. I've beaten it and now I'm trying to get all the DK coins (something I've never done before). What an awesome game.
Yes, the DKC series is finished and it's a damn shame. :shameful:

Yeah, hate to say it but there really hasn't been any real Donkey Kong game since DK64. There's been jungle beat, Donkey Konga, Mario vs Donkey Kong, and a ton of other spinoff titles, and cameos. Hopefully it will only be a single generation skip with a solid reinvention of the franchise (a la Metroid).

It's a shame. I played DK64 but didn't really get into it. I'll try again.

I'd rather see a totally new take on Donkey Kong to be honest. He isn't as ubiquitous as Mario, but nearly as venerable if not more so. DK deserves to get a groove back on the console scene. If they have to continue a series of games maybe they can do something in the line of Jungle Beat, but instead of the bongos use the wiimote and chuck in some way. Not like barrel blast... more new and refined as far as control and mechanics. Just simular in style to Jungle Beat, I guess.

Y'know, the Donkey Kong Land series for the original GB has some original content it you're particularly desperate. The first one in particular feels a bit weird and experimental, though the other two are a lot closer to their SNES counterparts.

I totally agree, the series should continue. It would seem like common sense for the DS to be home to DKC4, especially considering the success of New SMB. I've been hoping to see this happen since the DS was released.

The latest game I played with the name "donkey kong" in it was the n64 version (which was pretty good), but I have yet to play any of the gimmicky DK games showing up all over the place. If we get a DKC4 lets hope it ends up like contra 4, no added touch control for the heck of it, just use both screens and make a stellar game. If it gets Wii'fied its bound to have some horrible tacked on controls.

I think it could be argued that Donkey Kong Jungle Beat was a real Donkey Kong game (it's great and a platformer). Also the two Mario Vs. Donkey Kong games are true spiritual sequels to the original arcade game.

It's good to see some love for this series here. The internets is full of haters for DKC, but I really like it. DKC 2 was the first SNES game that I beat without the help of cheats and the like (it was also the last game I beat, period). I didn't know that DK64 was similar in vein, I'll have to check that one out, thanks for the tip!

I bet Nintendo doing a Donkey Kong Country style of game on the DS wouldn't be too far out of our grasp. Something along the lines of New Super Mario Bros. they could make some kind of New Donkey Kong Country or whatever. You know that would sell and Nintendo has little reason not to do a game like that, especially for the DS.

I agree. DKC2 is one of the best 2D platform/action games ever.

I think that DKC2 used the Goldie Locks and the 3 Bears approach, it was just right :)
