Just in time for halloween, I picked this up today and so far, its a nice combination of Silent hill and the suffering... and so far the controls are sooooo nice, the bottom screen touch strafes the character, while the dpad controls movement, forward and back, I have only played 10 minutes so far, but the game plays well and is DARK as anything.... this is how Touch of the Dead, should have been. Its early, I know, but I can easily recommend this to any DS gamer.

I'm about halfway through the game apparently and I like it quite a bit. Pretty short (a lot of people have been turning in game times around the 3 1/2 hour mark), but still pretty quality stuff. My one real gripe about it is that they artificially pad out the game time by forcing you to repeat the entire chapter if you die. Way to rape the gamer.

If they had removed that "feature" and dropped the price by $5-$10, I wouldn't have a single god damn complaint about the game. Amazing graphics engine and sound work, great control, neat puzzles, etc. Really neat game that can just be frustrating and tedious as times because of the save system.

...but saying that kind of shortchanges the awesomeness of the other half of the save system.

Since the game auto saves after going through each door, you can easily play it on the go in short (or long!) increments. Go figure, a DS game that works as great on the go as it does when you're chilling at home. More developers need to realize that the DS is a handheld and not a full fledged home-based console and maximize the portablity of their games.

So yea, tl;dr - I like it a lot despite one save system-related drawback.

This game is the reason I'm considering picking up a DS this season

I ordered it. It's nice to hear positive things about it. I'm really looking forward to it. I also have SH: Origins on preorder :)

This game looks good. I did pick up Resident Evil DS & Touch of Dead last week to get into Halloween mood, but I will definitely pick up this game.

How long is a typical chapter? also is anyone here a lefty and play this? I was just wondering how the controls were for us lefties.

i am a righty... so I can't speak to that. However, the chapters, I would have to say are breif, but you can explore freely, to a certain extent, I would say I got through 3 chapters in the first hour.

I got it! I'm so happy. The graphics are sweet, and the whole notepad function is something that's really useful. No more paper and pencil (yeah yeah, I use paper and pencil when I need to, anything to avoid strategy guides). Touch the Dead doesn't compare to this one IMO. Maybe I didn't play TD enough, but all I got from it was "tap the zombie". Did I not give it enough of a chance?

When you switch it to lefty, you use abxy to move around, and the right shoulder button for attack, and your left hand w/ the stylus to look around. I would think it'd be as easy for lefties as for righties.
