I am not one to spread unsubstantiated rumors, however this one has me wondering.

Has anyone heard that the Dreamcast will have a limited re-release and some of the un-released games will also be released?

To me it sounds preposterous, as the source is not one that has provided accurate info in the past. I love the DC, and need only a few games to complete my U.S. collection, but I digress.

Has anyone else heard this? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller? Frye? Frye?

:hmm:

I haven't, and then again I wouldn't hold my breath for it either. Why would they? They've said time and time again they were out of the console business, so why remake something that's been dead here for well over a few years?

The only thing I could think of is Majesco picking it up and releasing it like the Game Gear or Genesis 3. Even then I wouldn't depend on their craftmenship of a system.

Funny you should mention Majesco...when I read this topic the first thing that came to mind was the rumored Majesco reissue of the Saturn.

Nothing came of that.

Or the rumor about PSX ports of PDS and other Saturn highlights.

Nope there too.

I'd strongly doubt anyone would put the DC back on the shelf at this point. As much as I love the system, that just sounds like a money loser.

Still got a few games coming out for the DC in Japan. KoF2002 in June being the highlight. So, I don't think it's totally out the question for it to happen. They might not rerelease the system, but then again I don't really see there being a shortage of dreamcasts out there. If they release games like Propellar Arena and put a 20 dollar price tag on it, I think it would sell pretty decent.

The Dreamcast has been dead in NA for over a year. If games were to be re-released, most stores wouldn't even carry them.

It's dead. Buried. Six Feet Under. Dead as a doornail. Cold. Maggot Bait. Pushing up daisies.

If the DC were re-released, it would be just like the 2600's re-release to compete with the NES. And it would get just as buried. Not gonna happen. Ever.

I wish it would happen, but there is like a 0.1% chance that it would. They would just lose even more money and I doubt that Sega would do that. :/

Dropped the curtain and joined the choir invisable. It has ceased to be.

Which is a shame really, I would grab every one of those titles if they did a small rerelease. The DC is one of my all time favorite systems, and more games for it would not be a bad thing.

How would they lose any more money when the game is already made? Just don't print too many copies and sell it for a reasonable price, and the games will sell well enough.
