THIS JUST GOES TO SHOW THAT YOU ***CAN*** FIND RARE THINGS IN THE WILD!
First time I've ever seen a Bandai Pippin anywhere in public.. It's an NTSC/USA edition, too.
I saw it in a pawn shop in Atlanta, GA, in very busy Midtown. I hardly ever go to pawn shops anymore because they usually suck but I was feeling charitable today so I stopped by whilst doing errands and was helped by a very nice lady.
It all started when I found a copy of "Racing Days" for the Pippin. It didn't have the instructions but it had the case so I got it as well as the OS for the Pippin in a loose CD case and a few tired Sega CD games. This is the first time I've seen a Pippin game in the wild. The boxes are made of cardboard but it wouldn't matter if they were made of steel and concrete... you still wouldn't find one
When I went to pay for my stuff the nice guy at the counter asked if I even HAD a Pippin (a bizarre question for *anyone* to ask, and this guy was not even native to the United States). I said that I did and he pointed out the loose Pippin in the glass case. It was missing its attachments and controller but I told him what it was and described the controller (a boomarang with a track ball in the middle.) He mentioned that he had seen it and thought it was an odd PC controller. He said he was sure he could find the power cord for it... it uses standard red/yellow/white cords for connections.
He's going to dig and see if he can complete it. I don't know what he wants for it but I'll check. I don't want it (I have one already and it's virtually impossible to find games for it) but these USA versions are RARE and anyone who lives anywhere near me is welcome to go get it.
