It's been a while since I've tried this, but you burn the roms to a CD and then use the Action Replay Media thingy to boot it. I'll look into it some more when I get home. FYI, most of the games are pretty unplayable on the PS2 (bad sound/graphics).

It's possible. I tried this about 2 years ago. The Emulator is on the USB stick. You burn the roms unto a CD-R. Yet how to do it step by step, is what I cannot remember.

A majority of the ROMS will not play. Some games turn out well, (like Contra Hard Corps turned out well from what I remember) while like Shoes says, bad graphics and sound on others, sometimes you just get a blank picture.

Just play them on your PC or get the Sega Genesis Collection.

Here are the instructions to PGEN. Read them, it explains everything.

I already know about that site..I want to know how to do it..though the Action Replay Max..like where, Do I download PGEN on my USB Pendrive..go to ARM transfer it to the MC..I need Step by Step how to do it

Memory Card
-----------
PGEN can be placed on a memory card and be loaded via Macrus R Brown's
exploit. Without going into much detail, this will allow you to use
PGEN on a completely un-modified PS2 without the need for a swap trick
or similar. In order to load PGEN via this exploit, you must prepare
a special save on your memory card (which will show up in the browser
screen as "Your System Configuration"). You can use PGEN as your
BOOT.ELF. For more information on setting up this exploit, please see
http://www.0xd6.org/ps2-independence.html. PGEN will allow you to load
rom files stored anywhere on your memory card. It is recommended that
you place your roms in the same directory as the PGEN elf file, as
when a memory card is selected from the PGEN romlist it will default
to the directory on the memory card where the exploit data is stored
| (usually BEDATA-SYSTEM or similar)

How do I do that

The Action Replay for PS2 comes with PC based software that will create a CD or Pen Drive image file containing Genesis Roms and the Emulator.

MAX MEDIA CREATOR

When you load the Action Replay and you go to the media player section, it will recognize the PGEN program if it was correctly created.

Sega Genesis Roms come in two formats, BIN and SMD ... from my experience with the emulator, it will run some roms in BIN that it won't in SMD, and some in SMD that it won't in BIN.

It's trial and error, but if you're using a pen drive, it's just a matter of re-writing it with the appropriate roms.

You can get everything, and all the other help you should need here :

Gens was a surprisingly good emulator for PS2 that had some really nice features including save states and graphics smoothing.

Hmmmmm .... I recall being able to get the roms to work on both the pendrive that came with the Action Replay and a CDR ... could you try burning the MAX MEDIA image to a CDR?

I responded via PM,

like I said there ... I just tested my old PGEN disc with my Action Replay Max on my PS2, and it all still worked.

I'd reccomend only using the Max Media Creation software, and follow any/all tutorials you can find.

Include all roms un-zipped, and include the PGEN file, ELF file, and any other files that are required.

However, like all emulators, some games simply don't work, most games work perfectly on PGEN via ARMAX, but others won't boot at all, and some only boot as far as the title screens.

Also, make sure you're using the LATEST version of the MAX MEDIA CREATION SOFTWARE (I think you said you were using v 1.0?) Download the latest from the Codejunkies Support Section! V 1.32!

Okay, curiosity got the best of me, so I downloaded the latest version of the software and had it install the PGEN autoexec ELF and Genesis roms on a pen drive.

You mentioned that you got a "failed to load rom" error ... which you'd only see if you got PGEN to boot up. So you've gotten that far.

The problem that I think you're encountering is simply that your Genesis roms aren't formatted correctly for PGEN to be able to read them.

They should be in either ROM.BIN or ROM.SMD format (where ROM=the rom title)

I threw a zipped rom on there, and a rom with no extension on there (which is how some of them are found on popular rom sites), and both gave me that error.

Try finding them in raw .BIN or .SMD format....and that SHOULD help.
