WOW. Saw this on Engadget this morning. Me wants:

Is this not sweet? I loved this movie when I was a kid. Too bad they didn't capitalize on the arcade back then.

EDIT: Here's a better link with the ROM download: http://www.roguesynapse.com/games/last_starfighter.php

That was one of my absolute favorite movies when I was a kid... drove my parents nuts whenever we went to rent movies because I would only ever rent this, Flight of the Navigator, or one of the Star Wars movies.

Very cool!

Technically, this isn't a custom cab. The cab is the one that was used in the making of documentary on the DVD release of the movie. The real one was lost or destroyed, so this is as close to having the real cab as it can get.

But a ton of work went into the making of this and the great thing is the software is available for anybody to download and enjoy!

Wow, apparently there was also an Atari game in development based off this movie. A proto cart is up for sale now on eBay... I haven't seen any more info on this cartridge, so the listing is all you get.

Oh, I saw the movie and found it quite distasteful. Bad sci-fi, poor acting. It didn't even seem to be a low budget film; yet, it was an eyesore with ugly aliens and an uncompelling storyline.
