THESE ARE THE ONLY PACKAGING VARIANTS TO THE SIMPSONS GAME (FOR ALL PLATFORMS, BUT SPECIFICALLY THE XBOX 360)

UPDATED 11/8/07 10:35 pm

The offers are on the back, and are part of the printed insert:

Regular release (no offer on back)
Best Buy release (Exclusive Medal of Homer poster included)
Target release (Exclusive Super Happy Fun-Fun poster included)
Wal-Mart release (Exclusive Neverquest poster included)
GameStop release (Exclusive Bartman poster included)

IT HAS BEEN CONFIRMED THAT THESE ARE THE ONLY FOUR VARIANT RELEASES FOR THE SIMPSONS GAME. (SEE QUOTE AT THE END OF THE THREAD.)

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!!

I guess I'm not fully understanding why these are variants. Are you saying the paper cover insert itself has custom printing on it or just that there is a sticker on the outside of the case, but sealed in the shrinkwrap of the case which makes this a variant? Most of the Target versions of games I have seen just have a little red thing stuck to the outside of the case announcing an exclusive offer or exclusive content which is then shrinkwrapped over. Admittedly, I haven't paid too much attention to this lately and I might be recalling some of the PS2 and Gamecube games I have purchased from Target since I don't really buy much current gen stuff there anymore.

The offer is printed on the insert. Basically, the insert is physically different. It's not a sticker.

Even if it was a sticker, it's still an exclusive offer. However, in this instance, it's printed.

I've checked Circuit City - doesn't look like they participated.

I didn't even find copies of the game.

I can confirm that Toys 'R Us do not have a poster offer on the back.

Mystery Solved!

"Four of the biggest game retailers (GameStop, Wal-Mart, Target and Best Buy) will each have an exclusive, limited edition The Simpsons Game Parody Poster for early customers. Each Poster is representative of an in-game parody featured in the new title. In addition, each retailer will have a specifically created cheat code printed on the back of the game posters to open some of the unlockable content in the game." (from teamxbox.com)

SO, it appears as though they also had special inserts made, and packed in the posters.

There are only four limited edition poster retailers - so, case closed!

Thanks all.

Can anyone confirm if they all have different UPC's?
