I recently sold a copy of Bubble Bobble on eBay and got an e-mail from the buyer saying they are unhappy with it.

Here is the e-mail they sent me.

I won Bubble Bobble off your auction and am not satisfied with what I received. The exact quote in the listing said "If getting an arcade-perfect port of BUBBLE BOBBLE in not enough, the sequel to BUBBLE BOBBLE, is included as a bonus. Any fan of BUBBLE BOBBLE should be able to relive the halcyon days of youth." but I did not receive the sequel. Before I leave negative feedback I wanted to contact you for an explanation cause the rest of your reviews are good.

This quote that the buyer is refering to came straight out of the pre-filled product description as shown here

http://product.ebay.com/Bubble-Bobble_W0QQfromZR31QQfvcsZ1453QQsoprZ4071QQupvrZ2# ProdDesc

My question is the information in that description is it right? Does Bubble Bobble for the NES offer some form of a sequel on the cart? I couldn't find an anwser to this on google as I was thinking that maybe if this is right the so called sequal is in the form of extra levels that are not in the arcade version as surely it's not Bubble Bobble part 2 being included on the Bubble Bobble NES game. I'm not really sure what this buyer expected as I'm thinking maybe they are complaining that they didn't also get a copy of Bubble Bobble Part 2 or Bubble Bobble Part 2's whole game on the same cart, weather (sp?) they know better or not.

If anyone does have any info on this to prove or disprove the sequal bit on Bubble Bobble for the NES it would be greatly appriciated, Thanks!

By reading that description, my only guess is that eBay fucked up and used the description from the PSX port of Bubble Bobble (which includes arcade perfect ports of BB and the sequel, Rainbow Islands) for the NES version as well. Apologize to the buyer and explain to them that it is eBay's mistake and not yours. It's their problem really if you ask me, if the buyer knows that little about what they're buying.

Problem is, doesn't it state that using prefilled information is the buyers responsibility or something like that?

Thanks for the insight PingvinBlueJeans & VACRMH.

I think your right PingvinBlueJeans it probably is for the PSX, I know that Bubble Bobble has been on many systems over the years but didn't even consider that the description could mistakenly be for for the PSX, GBA or any version. I hear what your saying about the buyer should know what they are getting but I'm afraid VACRMH is probably right about how eBay (and probably Paypal) would see things as this is exactly what they said to me when I asked what they though about this on Live help on eBay, refering to it being the seller's problem if it's wrong.

Here is what I sent to the buyer

Hi

That is from the pre-filled description as show here, I didn't type that up myself.

Honestly I never read the pre-filled descriptions as it just about the story of and a brief description of what the game's like. I'm not sure exactly what "sequel" it's refering to as I know that the game doesn't also include Bubble Bobble Part 2 (or Rainbow Islands) on the same cart. I'm thinking that the NES version contains extra levels that ain't in the arcade version of the game but have never played the arcade verion of Bubble Bobble before so I'm not exactly sure what they mean by "sequal" in that or if it's just flat out a mistake on eBay's part and is inacurate.

I'm wondering what you were expecting as I'm sure we could come to a clear understanding about this matter and fix it if your reasonable about it!

And I've already got a reply back

Because the description said me buying Bubble Bobble would include the sequel (Bubble Bobble 2) I would like to have that one also. I understand it could have been someone else's mistake but when buying the first item from you I was promised another.

I really don't think this user is going to be reasonable about the whole situation, I had a picture showing the game and only claimed to be selling "Bubble Bobble" for the NES no mention or pictures of anything else except for what can only be described an an error in the product description. I think I'll offer to let them return the game for a refund since I don't have Bubble Bobble Part 2 (and wouldn't send it to them as a bonus freebie if I did :D) If they don't like that and refuse to play ball then tough as I think they may be having buyer's remorse and found a loophole to get their money back or have a reason of some kind to complain and neg me if they don't as realistically they surely don't expect me to magically cough up Bubble Bobble Part 2 for them, unless they are clueless which I'm guess they ain't with the full court press they are pushing with the issue.

Just shot them back an e-mail though eBay

I don't even have Bubble Bobble 2 for the NES if that's what your hoping for out of the wrong description sorry :( The description is most likely for the PSX version of the game or another system that must have had the sequal included on the same disk/cart.

Only thing I could do for you is let you return it according to the return policy for a refund though paypal.

They want Bubble Bobble Part 2 also. Right... LOL

Your buyer is full of shit...they're just trying to get a $100 game for free. They're smart enough to know that there is a Bubble Bobble 2 in the first place, but they're not smart enough to know what they're buying from you? Please. You did the right thing...just tell them to send it back for a refund or take a walk.

So are they buying up Bubble Bobbles all over the place hoping to get a freebie (as I'm sure many auctions have used that description)? Can't imagine how they'd think that angle would work. I imagine you are right about the buyer's remorse. Guessing they won't be too keen on the 'return policy' which I assume won't pay for the return or initial shipping. You may have to eat a neg on this one :frustrated:

Nope I only had to eat a neutral so I was pretty lucky :D They said I shipped fast but used false advertising to which I replied back to defend myself explaining that they expected Bubble Bobble 2 for the NES because of a auto info typo and that I offered a refund. I'm not too worried about it as I don't see how most people wouldn't see it has a simple mistake on my part with an understanding of what went wrong. I feel as if I got off pretty easy looking at the mistake the buyer was looking to take advantage of and what buyers can get away with sometimes when complaining though paypal. Also they never got back to me after I e-mailed them a second time they just went ahead and left me a neutral so returning was obviously too much trouble for them and they really did want to keep Bubble Bobble.

I was going to refund them PingvinBlueJeans to save the trouble of a neg for the mistake I missed and chalk it up as a lesson learned for missing such a mistake. I've noticed lately that if you look at some of the auctions for Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers for the NES that some people are using the auto fill product info for the second game by mistake better not let this guy go or he'll be getting a stock pile of Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers 2 for about the price of the first one on the Bay lol

I think some people must be pretty careful about the auto fill info as I did look at some other Bubble Bobble auctions to try and get an idea of how many other auctions had the same info with the sequal bit and I had to check a few before I'd find one with the same pre-fill info I had on mine.

I've used the pre-filled info in the past for CDs I was selling and I noticed errors in track listings in some instances. I never really imagined stuff like this causing issues with buyers. I guess by expecting people to know what they're buying, you're asking too much these days. Oh well...I guess we can let this be a lesson against future mistakes.

I don't really see myself having this problem much if at all in the future if I have a listing with something incorrect in the pre-filled info but you never know. With those CDs although it's very unlikely you could have had somebody that wanted to be a thorn in your side and say that you sent them the wrong item since the track listing would be different from what they got :(

When I first read the ebay description, I was also somewhat confused. It does seem as if you were trying to sell both 1 and 2 in one package. Then I looked further into the situation and came to the conclusion that you probably only put one in the title of your listing. I would explain to the person that the description was taken directly from ebay, and is incorrect. Also based on the title of the bid, that you never listed Bobble 2 for sale. The best way to resolve the issue is just to offer a return. If he denies that, he was going to leave you a negative anyways.

He already did that...10 days ago.
