Has anyone been to one of these auctions?

http://www.usamusement.com/

I have read a bunch about what to expect at an auction but have never heard this 'auctioneer' mentioned; there website is not espeacially helpful either.

Wondering if I should bother, and what to expect. Between parking and entrance fees it might not be worthwhile...

while i like the idea of the things they auction, that site has NO information on it other than how to get to one of these auctions.

Sorry this is past the date for your auction on the 10th (I don't check in here too often these days) but I can vouch for USAmusement. I've been to several of their shows in Indy and that's where my cabaret Missle Command came from. Every one I've been to has a good mix of older machines and newer as well as a pretty healthy selection of pinballs. Granted, I haven't been in a while and last one I went to, I noticed the MAME machines were starting to become a bigger part of the auctions as well as vending machines. Still, I'd recommend checking them out, especially as I think they are the only game in the region.

Thanks for the reply. It's good to know. I did not go this time around. i did not know what to expect and could not arrange transportation if I did find anything interesting.

I see there is another auction in Jan. in Indiana that I could try...maybe...

I would be interested in a MAME cabinet, but from what i have seen it seems likely I would be better served attempting to build my own, either from scratch or from a reclaimed cabinet...

I would only recommend buying a MAME cabinet if you are physically unable for some reason to do any manual labor. Building a MAME cabinet isn't particularly hard, and there are lots of people here on the forums who would be willing to help you every step of the way. MAME cabs seems to go really high at these auctions -- I've seen several come close and a few even break the $1,000 mark before. That's been a year or two ago, I'm not sure what the current market looks like.
