Well, I've been talking about this for months and now I'm finally going to be holding the first meeting. I'm sure you're already saying...hey, WTF is the Chicago Gamer's Club agbulls?

I'm glad you asked.

The CGC is designed to be a once a month meeting of Chicago area adult gamers who want to hang out, drink some beer and talk about games. No wives. No girlfriends. No online message boards. No bullshit. Just real people talking passionately about their constant obsession with everything gaming related.

We also are now proud to announce we have a forum! (but please don't think this means we're trying to take members from DP. We could only hope and pray to be DP's size one day)

We're going to have a main topic chosen with a genre and title focus for each meeting. This is not going to be anything super formal, but really a gathering of people in their mid-20's to 30's. My buddy and I have some other ideas we'd like to expand into for the group, but those are more initial meeting conversation pieces.

Woohoo. Big time updates to the site. We're going to do editorials and other quirky stuff beyond normal meeting recaps.

Chicago DP...where art thou?

I can't even believe the amount of time I've spent on the site in the past month. If anyone has any feedback for us (positive or negative) please respond right here, or in our new forum that is linked from the chicagogamersclub (http://www.chicagogamersclub.com) homepage.

Our first meeting was a rousing success on December 3. We had over 10 people who didn't know each other and that all had a great time. The site has grown exponentially in the past month, and we're even getting some stories to appear on Digg -- like my story on the President playing GTA.

I'd like to again personally invite any and all DP members to attend our 2nd event on January 19 at Celtic Crown in Chicago. We're going to be discussing our first official tournament (and the game will be chosen by members), the group's top 10 games of the year (by secret ballot vote) and some other cool stuff.

I hope to see many of you there!

I just wanted to give this a quick bump for anyone within driving distance of the city. please hit up our site or send me an email if you plan on attending. We're going to be planning a major tourney and voting on the GOTY as well at the meeting.

As of today, we're expecting 12-15 people.
