I'm thinking about trying to get a complete US Turbo Collection. But I need a list of all the games that were released stateside. I know Magical Chase and The Dynastic Hero are close to impossible to find, but I'd still like to try to get them all.

good luck, turbo is pretty tough. the hu-cards with outer boxes is crazy, card only not too bad... the regular CD Games arn't too bad, but the Duo games can be both hard and very expensive to track down.

I love my TurboDuo... but the way some HuCard games have outer boxes and some don't, while others never even came in jewel cases really fucks things up for collectors. This is one system that makes me glad I'm not a completist.

Well, there aren't THAT many games. As much as I'd like to have everything 100% complete, I can do without some things complete. The CD stuff I'd like to have complete though.

Every HuCard game except Keith Courage has an outer box. The jewel case thing is a problem though, but with under 100 games it's pretty easy to sort out. And as always, you can use our online guide (which tells you when the game doesn't include the jewel) and this photo to help :)

Collecting all the u.s games can be tough if you go the cib route.
Some games are dirt cheap while others reach the $100.00+ mark.
As for me my collection is half (TG16 and PCE) titles pretty much.I some times go,with what version is cheaper and i'm too not worry if the TG16 title has it's box either.
Long as it has it's jewl case and manual i'm set then.
Good luck though if your consider getting into it.

Thats what I plan to do with stuff like Cotton. Get the PC-engine version till I get my hands on a US copy.

Speaking of collecting TG-16 stuff. I still have my orginal Turbo and Hu card collection. However I always wanted to get into the CD games, and at the time the cd attachment, or Duo were really out of my price range.
Now I know this is a stupid question, but what is the cheapest route I can go to play Turbo cd games? Buy an import PCE, buy the cd attachment with a system 3.0 card, or just break down and buy a Duo?

Buy a Duo. The hassle of trying to find a System 3.0 card, and the price of the U.S. System 3.0 card if you can find it is insane. Just get a Duo, or get a pc-engine Duo.

I don't generally collect boxes for games, as I find they just take up room and don't really contribute anything (Yet for some reason I insist on completing my Jaguar and Lynx collections... don't ask me why, because I'm not entirely sure of my reasoning here either). I like to keep my collections very uniform (avoiding GH releases for example), but not having jewel cases for a bunch of HuCard games throws a monkeywrench into things. I want to eventually print out some spine labels and make cases for the ones that never had them, but I'm far too lazy to ever get that done unfortunately.
Plus, if I kept them in boxes like that, I'd end up being thwarted by all the CD games that didn't have boxes. It's a no-win situation for perfectionists!

Careful with the Duo... They may be sexy, but they're bloody expensive, and they're notorious for hardware problems!
If you're not satisfied with HuCard's, I'd recommend hitting up eBay for a modded PC Engine Duo-R or Duo-RX like this one (http://cgi.ebay.com/PC-Engine-DUO-RX-CD-system-5-games-work-US-JP-games_W0QQitemZ110192209772QQihZ001QQcategoryZ1234 39QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD2VQQcmdZViewItem). These were redesigned Duo's that seem to suffer from less problems, and a region modded Duo-R/RX will allow you to play just about all the PC-Engine/Turbo formats out there (the exception being the super-obscure SuperGrafx and LD-ROM2 titles). These are generally cheaper than a North American TurboDuo, though you'll have to ship them across the Pacific of course.
I'm probably the only person that would suggest this, but if you really want to do things in style, you might want to look into getting a LaserActive. With the right setup, you can play Genesis, SegaCD, HuCard, CD-ROM2, Super CD-ROM, MegaLD, LD-ROM2, and even laserdisc movies... all with one power cord. Great stuff if you're short on space like me, and it looks amazing to boot. Obviously the most expensive setup, but not all that much more expensive than a North American TurboDuo really.

Man, the chances of finding a Laseractive and a PC-engine module is pretty slim, unless you are rich.

Trying to collect a complete Turbo collection (especially CIB) isn't really a good idea...unless you are rich. No matter how much $$$ you start with, you're going to have a lot less of it if you manage to complete the collection...it doesn't come easy or cheap.

FWIW, I'm far from "rich". I was simply "a TurboGrafx guy" back in the day and picked up everything I could back then. Like the original poster, there seems to be so many gamers who want to get into this system NOW. It's tough going, I'm sure. Feel free to e-mail or call if there are specific titles you're looking for and I'll be happy to hold those for you as they come in. Just keep in mind that it may take some time and patience, but I "get it"... and will do what I can to assist an avid TG-16 person.
I have a boxed Magical Chase in my store now. Most people just gloss over it.

Well, here's one for $200 (http://cgi.ebay.ca/Pioneer-CLD-A100-w-LaserActive-Sega-Pac-S10-LaserDisc_W0QQitemZ320183797410QQihZ011QQcategoryZ 3317QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem). No TG16 module with that, but it's got a Genesis module, so it's a good start. $200 may seem like a lot, but I think it's a reasonable investment for such an awesome system. Keep in mind that modded Duo-RX I previously linked to was $150... this isn't a good system to collect for if you're squeamish about spending money.
(For what it's worth, that's the same guy I bought my LaserActive from, and things went well.. he didn't screw me on shipping or anything, and he packed it well)

The only real stuff I've seen out of my price range for the DUO complete are: Magical Chase, Dynastic Hero, and Beyond Shadowgate. I'm a college student and can actually afford everything else if I pace myself over the course of about a year. And that CIB too. I printed the list, looked at it, and I looked at my monthly budget. And figured I could afford most of this stuff. I decided that Neo Geo stuff is out of my range.

Gloss as in look it over and like "meh?" Or gloss over it and drool?
Thanks for the offer, but I live nowhere near the store. I do want to visit there one day. NEC's little console was my first and favorite, but like some of my collector friends, we were too young to afford some of that stuff.

Mostly the former, very very little of the latter. I've learned that the "locals" really just want the popular stuff. Games like Magical Chase and systems like the TurboGrafx simply elude them. I'm not saying ALL of the locals, but more than 95% of 'em. I usually keep this stuff around until NAVA meetings where collectors who are in the know can get a gander!

Complete?
Yes I assure Joe's games are complete -- He just post a picture with all his hu cards.
I have been trying my self to get a complete USA set for 15 years now!
I have "completed" the USA CD set (44 games) for both TGCD and Duo back in 2004 when I finally got Might an Magic III and Splash Lake. Will post low quality picture on request ;)
It is a big help when having started getting games when they were new at retail -- many games were mark down quickly back in the 90's and I was better to afford them than Genesis or SNES games:embarrassed: when I was young. Getting the rest of Hu card is a challenge as game like Bonk III is expensive and game like Neutopia II is tough to track down (I finally play thanks to VC but still want the hucard)
Best of luck in obtaining a complete USA collection! There are not a ton of game and best of all there is only 1 Madden game LOL ROFL

LaserActive PCE modules cost a million billion dollars and are pretty hard-to-find... not a good idea. Not to mention the fact that you can't use USA HuCards on them.

See I always wondered about that. Since I've got the attention of the Turbo community on here for the moment, I've got another question. I've been wanting to do a 5-player Dungeon Explorer game since the game came out. However, Duo pads are a bit scarce. I've been wondering if those "Aveune Pad 6" I see on ebay are compatible with the DUO.

Same here. I can remember going to my local Toys R Us and getting Hucard games that were severly marked down in price. Most were $19.95, and I passed on Magical Chase at this price back in the day. Now I really regret it, but I did get some great games on sale like Bonk's Revenge, and Neutopia II.
Yeah its strange that the TG-16 is so popular now because I still remember getting picked on in high school about it. People were like "Its not a true 16-bit system!" But it is good to see that the system is finally getting some respect.

I was made fun of for supporting the Turbo Grafx 16 during my youth :(
I had SNES and Genesis as well but I enjoyed the Turbo the most and favored their games best. To this day I still enjoy playing the Turbo games!

Avenue Pad 6 works fine with the DUO. You can actually mod regular TG16/PCE pads to work with the DUO, just grab a S-Video cable, chop it up and start soldering.
