Hi guys,

I'm probably going to pickup a CPS-II cab this weekend (ugh... hahahaha), and I'm trying to figure out if I can transport it laying down.

Reason? My friend has a giant Dodge cargo van that can easily fit a cab laying down... and I don't have access to a pickup. Uhaul is unresonably expensive for this too (I have to drive an hour each way to go get it!) so I'd rather go that route if I can avoid it.

ANYWAY, I searched here and found a few threads suggesting that transporting it laying down was bad because it can damage the monitor... I assume that it's not because you'd be laying it monitor-face down (which would be beyond stupid) but for some other reason.

Anyone care to chime in?

TIA

I have transported all my cabs on their side or back, and I have never had any problems (it is the only way they will fit into my Suburban). I would make sure there is nothing loose inside including the game board. Just be gentle with it and you should have no problems.

I picked up a game once. Loaded it onto its side into the truck. Heard a "sliding" noise; a "breaking" noise; and a "hissing" noise.

- Sliding noise was the still-loose metal change collection tray sliding around the interior of the cab.
- The breaking noise was the sound of the tray shearing off the back of the picture tube.
- The hissing noise was a combination of electrical discharge and raining glass shards.

If you must tip, tilt, or otherwise topple the cab, check for loose parts and that everything's mounted securely. If you screw it up, it can be an expensive fix.

yeah you sould be fine, just be smart about it. Put a moving blanket under it if possible, check for loose stuff, and drive slower than usual and you should be fine.
