View Full Version : DS for left handers?

Is the DS usable for a left handed person? I was thinking about the fact that I would be holding the stylus with my left hand and then what? Usually the pen is used for actions with the left hand doing the directional controlling.

Is there something for that or do left handers have to write with their right hand?

Many games that use the stylus as the primary control scheme have a lefty option.

No complaints from this lefty...

Tho a lefty gaming friend of mine is annoyed by the stylus storage on the RIGHT side (get over it, I say, especially since you use an oversized "LOOSE" stylus now!)

No complaints from this lefty either. I usually just keep the stylus out for games that don't need it all the time and keep it on top of my ear like a pen.

I'm a lefty and have trouble sometimes. The A,B,X,Y buttons can be tricky to use as a D-pad substitute, especially if it's a game where you gotta use diagonals a lot (like that guitar chord game). I'll play righty most of the time though unless the game requires you to actually write (like Brain Games).

See, this is a great thing about the DS. A lot of games try to accomodate left-handed people. Like take Hotel Dusk, for example. You're supposed to hold the DS sideways, and by default, the right screen is the side that you write on, because most people are right-handed. But, you can flip it for left-handed people, so that you're writing on the left side. I'm right handed, so I don't need any of that, but I thought it was a nice gesture.

It works good for me.

When having to go back and forth between the stylus a dpad I usually just put it between my hand and the ds itself.

Its actually a good exercise for your central nervous system to use you off-hand if it feels a little awkward.

I don't have a problem either, but I just use the buttons for Metroid Hunters and not the Stylus.
