Nice. I'd love to have one of those if it actually still has the feel of the Super Famicom controllers (that is, if they didn't go cheap on the D-pad and buttons and such).

That's sick.

Couldn't these be used on an American Wii, since it's only plugging into the controller? I'd love to get my hands on one once they're out, assuming it would work with American system. I don't see why they wouldn't, but just want to check.

With any luck, they'll be brought here or be openly compatible.

I may have kept my Wii if they had something like this available in the U.S. I wanted to download a bunch of VC games but the lack of a good controller kept me from doing so, thus also making my decision easy to get rid of it.

I think the 'classic controller' is actually pretty good, outside of the weird octagonal analog stick holes.... Like a SNES controller I don't have to cramp my hands up to use.

As a caveat, I'm one of the weird people who likes the gamecube controllers, so maybe my opinion doesn't count for so much.

I don't know if any of the N64 VC games has suffered for it yet, but they need to put out a classic N64 controller with C Buttons and dragon foot shape. It's just not the same with the GC controller.

I'm actually more upset about that Mario Galaxy soundtrack. That MUST come stateside (or, at least, some P2P network ;) )

I'm confused... how does Club Nintendo work anyways? You just get free stuff for being in the club, or what? The Joystiq article says you have to have more than 400 points, but are those points "used up" on this item?

Not quite,

Like with the Nintendo 1st party titles here (that have those codes on that piece of paper thats packaged with the manuals in their games) you enter the code, it denotes that you 'bought' the game and then you cash in the points that you get for entering each game into cool prized. Some of the really good stuff takes LOTS and LOTS of game purchases to get.

Sucks I only have 230 points! And it also says at the top (i believe) that you must have gotten the 400 points between 10/1/2006 and 9/30/2007. Well I can only hope they make a bunch and let other club nintendo people have a crack at them eventually.
