I've been seeing some nice reviews and the posters at GameFaqs are being unusually gentle on the game. Figured I might pick it up on a trade in. Anyone care to comment on the game?

It's made by Naughy Dog.....do you really need more reasons to buy this? I'm buying it because the demo was fantastic.

I picked it up on friday when it came out, since the demo was so awesome and I had it preordered for months. I'll be playing it in the next week or two since I've got some papers to work on.

I thought this game came out Tuesday? It's already out?

Gamestop/EB were the only places to officially have it on sale Friday. Everywhere else is sticking to the old street date (Monday Nov. 19th).

This thread deserved to be bumped back to page one.

I picked up my copy yesterday from Best Buy. I saved 10 bucks that way, not to mention only paid 9 bucks for the guide for waiting a few days after Gamestop released it.

I played for over 5 hours yesterday on normal (47 percent finished) and let me say: WOW. I absolutely love this game. Best PS3 title hands down. Not that it really has any competition. It reminds me of a mix of a Tomb Raider title done right, with some Prince of Persia: Sands of Time climbing puzzles. Platforming mixed in there from time to time.

Uncharted just has that Naughty Dog greatness feeling. Keep in mind I'm a huge dork for the Jak series. The only thing that worries me is it is appearing to be a little short. Figuring I'm half way done in a day. I'll end up going back and replaying on Hard and collecting all the hidden treasures and medal awards. I'm rather proud I got the 100 head shots one last night within' a few hours. Fear my 9mm head shot skills.

Yeah, I picked it up on a trade in last night and played a few hours. Great atmosphere and fun puzzle solving so far. Good character development; I like Sully.

EDITED to reduce acts of murder...

OMFG! Finally got around to playing this. Man, holy cow...it's definity up there in my all time favorite games ever played.

Take the awesome platforming elements of Crash Bandicoot games.
Take a great cinamatic story like Indiana Jones
Take the shooting aspect of Gears of War
Take the amazing tropical locales of Farcry

Take all of that and mash it together to get Uncharted Drake's Fortune

Man o man what a fricken awesome game so far!!!!!

Might want to stick a spoiler warning in there.

SPOILER...

Sully isn't really dead. Drake's diary saved him from the bullet..../me shrugs

I'm surprised this thread hasn't received a little more action. Just beat Uncharted this evening and I highly recommend it.

The atmosphere, story, voice acting and most of the gameplay is top-notch. My only compalints are that the jetski sequences are annoying and the shoot-outs are far too frequent. Speaking of the shoot-outs, there is a whole set of melee combat moves, but when is the player ever supposed to use them when most of the enemies have guns? Nathan Drake has more than a passing resemblance to everyone's favorite browncoat, Malcolm Reynolds (Firefly), but that is in no way a bad thing, and actually lends our protagonist an endearing sense of familiarity. The game has what basically equates to a set of achievement points for fulfilling certain objectives, which in turn unlock extras, which will extend the life of the game if you're into that sort of thing. I'm not one that has to beat a game 100%, so once through is enough for me at the moment. I'll probably toss my copy on eBay and pick it up again in a year or so when it hits the $20 mark.

I am only on Chapter 12, but if it were not for Super Mario Galaxy, this would take the cake for game of the year. This game is a masterpiece! It has been a long time since i have cared this much about the main characters in a game. In fact Beyond Good And Evil was the last game i played that had the same effect on me. The gameplay is golden, and the graphics are phenomenal! This is true next gen baby! It is a shame that many people will miss out on this game.

Nah, I bet the 360 port is right around the corner ;)

I can't think of a game with better character animation or voice acting. It really connects you to the characters, especially Nathan and Elena.

As for the length thing, you know; I'm OK with it. I just beat it last night, and I thought it wrapped up admirably; I have crap like Final Fantasy and so on if I want to spend 40+ hours on a single story. Uncharted is the perfect length for the story its telling, and I hope other developers take note of that.

My only issue with the game is the shooting; it's totally Gears of War, but the sixaxis analog sticks seriously degrade the experience. Maybe its just my controllers, but I never got comfortable enough with the shooting to crosshair someone right out of cover.

I love this game, though. It gets to stay on the shelf.

Is there any kind of multiplayer component to the game or reason to keep playing once you beat it?

No multiplayer, only unlockables thru "achievements" keep the replay value if you're into that sort of thing.

...Not that multiplayer would matter, since no one bought it except the people in this thread :)

The treasures and rewards system is basically one part Xbox achievements and one part Bajo Kazooie. Its fun, but since the best reason to play Uncharted is the acting and (admittedly pretty cliched) story, it sort of falls flat.

I started playing the game yesterday. I'm an hour and 30 minutes in and am 30% done, but it's awesome so far. The full game is just more of the same as the demo, so if you liked/loved the demo, the game will obviously be a good pick for you.

bump for a really, really great game. Everything said above is true. Great animations, great acting, great pace. A really great game. Fasten your seatbelt! (the jeep ride/rail shooting portion is awesome!)

The game just got patched for Trophies today. I started up a new save file and decided to run through the game again. There are 48 of them total, all corresponding to the various Medals you earn through playing the game. They're not retroactive, however, so you'll need to earn them all over again if you want them.

yeah i'll be going back to get those trophies. I actually got about 70% through the game and then lost my savegame due to the big firmware 2.40 tragedy a few weeks ago. I've actually held off on starting over until the trophies were released -and now FINALLY, I can play Uncharted.

Replaying now to get the trophies, this game hands down is one of the best for the PS3...must have IMHO.
