I've been playing my 360 & PS3 on a 50" Samsung plasma for 8 months and no problems with screen burn or anything.

I just picked up a 50 inch myself. I just wanted to be careful not to burn something into it. Does it burn something in if you leave a game paused for long?

I think the fear of burn in is relegated only to early model plasmas. I don't think the newer ones will have an issue like that.

When Crackdown first came out for the 360 I played for 4 to 6 hours straight and forgot about the t.v. When I turned it off it did have screen burn but over time it has disappeared.

How old is your plasma tv? Can you describe the burn in? I'm curious as I too thought plasmas were no longer susceptible to burn-in.

You can burn in today's plasma set, although it is more resistant than it used to be. There is nothing in the article specifically regarding video games.

As a rule of thumb, if you're smart about it, it will never happen. Unfortuately, as a rule of thumb, you are always susceptible to doing something dumb. YMMV.

The problem RPG_Fanatic describes is not really burn in. From Wikipedia:

Plasma displays also exhibit another image retention issue which is sometimes confused with burn-in damage. In this mode, when a group of pixels are run at high brightness (when displaying white, for example) for an extended period of time, a charge build-up in the pixel structure occurs and a ghost image can be seen. However, unlike burn-in, this charge build-up is transient and self corrects after the display has been powered off for a long enough period of time, or after running random broadcast TV type content.

Playing 360 on 42" Samsung plasma. No trouble.
