Wii charge kit

I have decided after playing Mario Galaxy that I really need one of these, because the controller really eats through batteries. I usually prefer wired controllers, like for the 360, but Nintendo didn't give us that option, and it would probably suck in the Wii's case anyway.

So, there are several third party brands of this device. I doubt Nintendo will release an official version any time soon, so my question is which of the third party charger's is the best, and what's the best deal?

The Nyko brand double charge station is the best hands down.

It includes replacement battery covers for the remotes which allow for charging with the batteries still in the remotes, and the quality of the NiMH batteries included is excellent.

Initially I purchased a much cheaper Intec brand one, which had Lithium batteries, which were incorporated into their own battery cover, and needed to be removed to be charged. While this in and of itself was frustrating - it would be forgivable if the batteries themselves didn't completely FAIL to hold a charge during non-usage.

Luckily the store where I purchased it let me return it as "defective" and get the Nyko set instead.

It's worked great for close to a year now.

Is there any battery cover that is smooth like the stock battery cover? All the recharge batteries I see are have "grip" and are "rough". I desire something that is retain the stock feel and look.

I did some search on google and find a few that seem to be smooth -- Game Stop do not have any that are simulate the stock look -- they have batterys that all have grip on them:angry:

Care to tell which smooth ones you found? I don't care too much about texture but if I could choose I would prefer a smooth cover. Though I don't really want to sacrifice performance from the Nyko version, if that is truly the best. Any good deals?

Are there any that will you allow them to charge while they are in the wiimote condom that Nintendo just sent me?

Unfortunately, since the bottom port of the controller does not function as a charging port - none can charge with Wiimote condoms on.

In fact, Wiimote condoms of any shape and size pretty much prevent all accessory usage save the nunchuck.

and since the Nyko charger battery packs have a set of contacts that connect to the charger base through a hole on the textured battery cover - you can't use the standard smooth covers (unless you dremel out a hole in them yourself).
