If you haven't guessed it yet, I love the DQ/DW Series. As such, I have been collecting them for about a year now. (Seriously, at least). After I played Dragon Quest 8, I was 100% dead set on getting them all. Im close, but not all the way there yet.

So far, I have played them all but have only beaten the following:

Dragon Warrior
Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime
Dragon Quest VIII

Slacking? You bet your sweet rear end I am! I had to take breaks to go through Nuclear Engineer Qualifications and move to Italy this year so, I have been slowly getting back into the groove of playing my old school stuff and moving up. Just beat Metroid to kick it off, but thats a different story.

Here is some pictures of my current DW/DQ collection:

Just picked up, via ebay, Dragon Quest 2, 3, 4 for the Famicom and then my most exciting pickup, Dragon Quest: Swords for the Wii!

nice collection ya got there. I also have been a fan of Dragon Warrior/Quest since the first game on the NES. Of course I was pretty young and didn't 100% understand RPGs at that age. All I have for DW games is 1-3 loose carts,7, and 8. I mainly like to just stick to the tradional main DQ series and don't really get into the rocket slime and all that other stuff. Some people think Dragon Warrior was over-rated back in the day, but I thought it has always been a spectacular series.

Nice collection! I have a large number of those games too (well, the US ones, at least), but in nowhere near as nice of condition -- especially those complete copies of DW 1-4. :)

I've played all of the US released main games in the series (1-4, 7 and 8) and Rocket Slime, but my favorites of the series have been 4 (especially the chapter with Taloon) and 8. The latter is still one of my favorite games of all time, and probably the only game that I've logged over 100 hours in.

Do you plan on collecting the spinoffs too? The main ones I'm thinking of are Torneko: The Last Hope for the Playstation and Torneko no Daibōken: Fushigi no Dungeon for the Super Famicom, but there are other Japanese games that aren't part of the main series.

I am thinking of it. I found out recently (today) that there are some Final Fantasy / Dragon Quest games in Japan and a Mario/Dragon Quest Game! At the rate I am going, currently I probably will have them all some day (spinoffs included)... eventually I will have to suck it up and get some NSTC/J systems to play it all on!

I have to give a shout out to Game Over! (www.gameoverbeyond.com) for selling me the DW4 and DW2 complete, and the DW1 box/manual. Also, I picked up DW3 and a second copy of DW4 that I later sold for a hefty profit (to someone here actually) from Cool Stuff in Virginia Beach, VA.

As far as how nice they are, I have gotten really luck with the first go arounds. Except 8, I bought that one and started playing it, using the guide pretty often and it screwed up the box and guide. Managed to get a new game in great condition and just left it sealed. I have found that as I get older (now a whoping 26) I buy a loose copy of soemthing to play, and a minty or sealed or new copy to just keep up on the shelf for show. It gets expensive and probably like my baseball card collection wont be worth squat one day!

nice set. i highly recommend Torneko for the playstation, its a DQ/DW game although not many pple know off hand.

you should play IV and VII, as they are the best (imho) released in the US.

Cool collection!
I have only played through parts 7 and 8 (with Dragon Warrior VII not being my own copy and having a disc red error in the ending:() myself, but I hope to get more as time passes. I am currently waiting for a good deal on DW 7. Sadly, DQ 8 was the first of the main series ever to be released in Europe, so prices for the US-version of VII are rather high, like 50,-€ + shipping.
The SNES Dragon Quests are cheap to get, but getting an English-patched cartridge is veeeery expensive.^^

If you are the collector you should get the European Strategy Guide for DQ 8 too; afaik it is completely different from the US-player´s Guide. http://www.piggybackinteractive.com/en/guides/info/index.php?id_guide=32

Oh, and the Dragon Quest/Final Fantasy-game is a board game, on PS2 and DS I think.

Cool! Thanks for the heads up on the DQ8 guide. I live in Italy, but they arent too keen on video games here and its difficult to find things in english. Ill be in Brussels Thursday so maybe if I get lucky in my random travels there will be a video game store!

Thanks for all the compliments...

In regards to DQ7 ... i am about 1/2 through it. I had to stop bc the PS2 was packed up in July for the move, and the game went with it. I just haven't gotten a free few mins from CoD4 and Halo 3 to get back into the groove of DQ7. I do think its a great game though.

Ill be honest about 4, I have been very careful with that game because I dont want to screw with it at all and risk damaging it. Before I seriously started collecting the series it was always, to me at least, the holy grail of the series because it was so rare. Maybe I should get a loose cart to play.....

When I get the DQ FC versions and the Wii game in a week or two, ill add updated pictures. Ebay: Cant live with it, cant get sweet stuff from Japan without it!

I started one of these exact threads a while back about my favorite series', including DW/DQ. Glad to see someone else with a lot of interest.

My DW/DQ collection can be found here:

You don't think a board like this could exist without this thread, do you? ;)

Well, there you go. I was looking in the wrong section when I searched. Eh, oh well :)

Nice collection Daria. I'm not a big fan of the toys... dont have electricity running through them!
