I have been out of the loop for some time now. What games are still popular? Is Star Wars galaxies any good, is there a game out that's ie better than WOW?
Is there any specific sites that go over this info?

Better than? You can try Everquest II, Neverwinter Nights II or Guildwars. There are tons of free MMOs that'll entertain you for about 10-15hrs like Maple Story or FlyFF. There are lots of options, just Google "free MMORPG." If you like FPS more you can check out Unreal 3, Crysis, Half-Life II, Hellgate London, Quake 4 or a bunch of others around. For RTS you can also go with Starcraft as I believe it's still popular on B.net but there should be some playing Command & Conquer 3, Age of Empires III, World & Conflict (Being told this game's shitty though) or Warcraft III.
I'm sure there are plenty of others but those are some of the current popular ones I'm hearing of.

It looks like WOW is still the biggest one around. Last time I played any of these type games Everquest II just came out and I was playing City of Hero's. <---- Would not recommend.
To bad I've read Galaxies is pretty buggy.
I just want to start a game early instead one that has been going for years ie WOW

Well, you might want to try out Hellgate London, it's still fresh off the press.
Oh, and a bit of an inquery: Does anyone like Loki? I saw that game and I can't seem to get the demo to work (Doesn't like my dual monitors?) and hear it's very glitchy and crashes at times. For $30 and a non-working demo it's not worth a gamble however some people have reviewed it alright.

I love this game. Most fun i've had since WoW first came out. Now is the time to play cause people are rolling along and getting things done and the character classes are hard to learn so there is some good conversations going on about builds and what not.
When people start hitting up the Hardcore mode with perma death it's going to be very interesting imo. Everyone is still learning stats and skills though as the system is quite deep and complex with many variants and learning tactics for all situations and how to not screw their characters since there is no respec. Slow and steady is the pace of leveling your character in this game, i'm just now truly learning my character and what build I want at 30.
Course every person won't like the same build, but let me say....this game has some good builds and characters! They are all fun, and interesting which I find amazing. Never liked so many classes and skill trees in any other game.
I just hope they get those patches out to fix bugs and keep the content rolling, but I don't doubt they will. Plus, the game is free to play with a subcription "option" so hell why not. It's basically a Diablo clone done in 3-D with a much more complex structure yet just as fun and addicting with touches of WoW and other MMO's thrown into the mix.

Pirates of the burning sea is coming out in January. Pirates + MMO + naval battles = Happy Fantasia.
