Did Xenophobe have an ending, or did the game go on forever?
With Ghosts N Goblins/Ghouls N Ghosts, how difficult are those? I was always fascinated with both, but never got very far. With MAME and game saves, is it still extremely difficult?
Now that I think about, I have the same questions for Splatterhouse: did it have an ending, and is that game still frustrating with game saves?
Thanks!

1) i have no idea
2) Ghosts N Goblins/Ghouls N Ghosts are infamous for there high level of difficulty so to answer your question. yes they are very difficult.
3) Splatterhouse has an ending.
as for game saves...if your talking about save states where you can save anywhere. yhea, i suppose the games would still be a little challengeing but if you ask my opinion useing save states anywhere can destroy the challenge factor of a game makeing it kind of a hollow victory.

While I can't confirm how many levels the arcade version has - Xenophobe for the Atari Lynx only has 23 levels.
Since the question about Ghosts N' Goblins and Ghouls N' Ghosts has already been answered - I'll add my two cents.
Ghouls N' Ghosts is the easier of the two thanks to the superior control scheme (up and down weapon firing/usage, and the magic armor enhancement), though both are hard and BOTH require TWO count em' TWO run-throughs of the ENTIRE game to get an ending. Ouch!
As far as Splatterhouse - there may be TG-16 emulators that have a "live save state" that would assist in the last few levels. (Save your spot and if you die, just refresh the save spot.)
I can't remember if the PSP Turbo Emulator has one ...

Arcade version of Xenophobe doesn't end. Believe me I've tried.

The VCS version of Xenophobe doesn't end.
Wow, I didn't even know the VCS got a Xenophobe port-I thought it was only on the 7800!

I find Splatterhouse to be quite easy once you learn the patterns. The bosses can be a bit tricky (especially the guy with chainsaw arms if you don't have the shotgun) but compared to Ghouls N Ghosts, it's a cakewalk.

I couold be wrong, but I thought Xenophobe for the NES just kept repeating 6 or 8 levels or something.

Yeah, as far as I remember the game just looped. It was frustrating the first time I played through it because I thought EVENTUALLY there was going to be an ending. :P

Yeah Spy Hunter published by Sunsoft was exackly the same as Xenophobe. The game just looped, and looped. But that was a different time when scores were everything.
