View Full Version : If you could keep only one item of your collection.....

What would it be? Since it's only one item, it would be more for sentimentality than anything else if we're talking non-dedicated consoles since a system without a game or vice versa wouldnt be much fun to play. Anyway, if you only could keep one thing, what would it be?

I'd keep my original NES. Just looking at it brings back so many good memories, how when I first saw a display in K Mart, how I used to dream about owning one, the first time I played SMB....there are too many memories wrapped up in that gray box for me to keep anything else. :D

If emulation don't count, I'll probably have to settle for NES. Otherwise I'd takle DC as it could play just about everything via emulation.

I'd keep my Puzzle De Pon MVS cart. Best. Game. Ever.

The Odyssey 2. With or without the voice. Still my favorite. But I think everyone here knows that already. :P

*stares at collection* *stares at blank screen* *stares at collection again*

Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Damn that's a hard choice. Honestly, of everything I have, I'd keep my SNES. I love the old 16 bit RPGs more than 99% of the modern ones, and I still dig all those great SNES action games too. There's a lot of love in that little system :embarrassed:

I'd have to choose my Atari Video Pinball. Besides my Coleco Telstar Marksman, the Video Pinball was the only console I had until I bought a Genesis. I grew up with that thing, and having no siblings, its crude versions of Pinball and Breakout were the only companions I had *sniffle.* I love that little woodgrain pinball/breakout playin' thing!

I would have to keep Super Mario Bros/Duck Hunt for the NES. I have so many memories playing DH with my mom for hours as a kid.

Wonderboy III for the SMS, but since I could only keep a single item, I'd just stare at it without the game system to play it on.

Poy Poy for the playstation or Warlords for the 2600...

It's just not the same without the foreplay...

I'd keep my Vic-20. I have other systems from the pre-crash era up to the N64, but this little computer gives me as much joy now as it did back in the 80's.

Samurai Spirits 4 homecart. It's the most I ever paid for a game, and it's damn good too.

I'd keep Metal warriors for the SNES, assuming that I still had an snes. I love that game so freaking much, best two player action ever.

Baseball Stars for the NES...and some kind of way to make sure the battery never dies on me...

I'd take either Xenogears for the PSX or Radiant Silvergun for the Saturn. I guess I could always find a system later, although that would be hard if we took our chosen game with us on a spacecraft to colonize another planet, or if we carried it around while wandering the ravaged wastes of a post-apocalyptic Earth. This kind of "choose only one thing" question always makes me wonder what sort of situation would require me to make such a decision.

I'd keep my Starwing Competition Cart, aside from personal reasons, it's just smegging cool to play and unlike my other games I doubt very much I'd have a chance to play the game again in any form.

I'd keep my PS2 as long as I can still play PS1 games on it? :)

SNES would be second choice.

I gotta go with the good ol' Atari 2600. I love this little workhorse. And, if I could only keep one game for it - hmmmm - it'd have to be either Halloween (I love this game) or Pitfall II.

(I'd also want to keep the vaporware, never-programmed, its-existence-is-only-a-nonsubstantiated-rumor Futurama game.....if it had ever been finished, of course. :P )

Toss-up between my SNES, PSX and Dreamcast for me. Great games I could play for hours on each system along with fond memories of getting them.

I would keep my snes. It doesnt have any moving parts and will most likely last longer than my ps2. Plus I have my most fond memories on this system.
MK2, SF2, Doom, Super SF2...OHHHHHHHHHHH the memories. :D

Baseball Stars for the NES...and some kind of way to make sure the battery never dies on me...

That would be my choice as well. I have a sealed copy that I treasure. It's my holy grail.

BEST...BASEBALL GAME...EVER.

Its gotta be my TV-Boy, or my TV-Boy II, or my Super TV-Boy,
then at least I still have a choice of many VCS classics.

Don't get me wrong, I still have my original from childhood, a new/old one with a brand new battery & the sealed version.

But, if I only had one item, it would be the sealed one because it'll have the box & instructions to read.

Remember, the question asked for only one item. I can't bring my NES to play it on, so I want the best...baseball game..ever in its virgin form dammit! :)

I see a lot of people have missed the point of this question -- you can have ONE thing; that means a system but no games for it, or a game but no system to play it on.

So, outside of dedicated machines, the question is really about what means the most to you, not what you could play forever...

For me, I guess I'd have to say I'd keep a copy of Stella Gets A New Brain, since I helped put it together, and moreso it was something I'd wanted to do for a LONG time before it got done.

I would have to say my DC. Just recently bought some Maracas and I FREAKING LOVE THESE THINGS. But as soon as I got them, the shit has the fan, and now I must sell them. :( My DC has given much good times. It gets more play than my other systems.

LOL LOL Well, I would definately keep my Intellivision. This system was a huge part of my childhood and has shed great light on my adulthood as well. Checkout my site at: http://www.wandering.dynu.com/wanderingsouls/intellivision/intellivision.html

NES for sure but it would have to be my top loader. Lots of memories with the toaster but far less Q-tips with the top loader.

I might have to go with Phantasy Star IV for the Genesis. I sorta had a rough time through junior high, but PS4 kept me going until I got to high school where everything worked out. I love that game, lots of good times with my friends and that cart.

If I could only keep one thing, it would most likely be my Neo Geo Pocket Color with my Bust-A-Move Pocket game stuck in it, making it only one little item :D

Well, either it or my NES with Super Mario Bros. 3 stuck in the same way. Damn addictions...

I am going out on a limb here, but the cool thing is that the Bally Astrocade system has FOUR built in games on it. I could then still invite my friend Zach Meston over and could settle the score once and for all, who is the best sharpshooter in the west!!!

It would be my Samba de Amigo Big Box (PAL). I just love the looks of the box, that great yellow and those little drawings on the box. And even without a DC or TV or anything, I could shake the Maracas LOL

05-16-2003, 01:06 PM
I was thinking of my Bally Astrocade. It was the first system I ever had. Everyone else had an Atari but since some dingleberry salesman told dad it was a computer, then it had to be better than a game machine. I'm glad it never made it to a yard sale though......

Wow...I immediately think of my sealed Rondo; but that's not it. I think of Akumajo Dracula x68000...Contra The Hard Corps (Japanese,) Gunstar Heroes (Japanese also,) and then I look at my sealed Famicom Disk System games: Metroid, Akumajo Dracula [sorry, it's dumb to write "Castlevania (Japanese)"] and both original Zelda games (two' opened, though). I see an unopened Dracula XX and Japanese SCV4, but I can do without them if I had to. The U.S. Metroid 2, unopened and darn expensive enough already, and the Japanese Super Metroid.

Oh look, there's a copy of the PAL Mega Drive "classic," Zero Wing. I can part with that one just fine :)

Time to kill the Devil himself; I'm not parting with any of it..!

Hehe, if I had owned some of these titles since my childhood I might think about it differently, but a lot of the classic stuff is new to me.

Since I can only have a system without a game or a game without a system, I'll have to go with my original copy of Phoenix by Len Herman. He was the first person in the hobby that I ever got in touch with, when I thought I was the only one who was weird enough to collect old games. (I think a lot of us felt that way back in the day. I can't believe it was 10 years ago already. Sheesh.) I have reread the book many times already, and I really enjoy it each time. I wouldn't be here without it.

Tough question.

One thing, huh?

Call me crazy, but I think that it would be......My hardcover Vanguard Bandits Official Strategy Guide from WD. There's no point in having a console without a game...and vice versa. Might as well read something....and that book is a thing of beauty.
