I'm not sure about the Game Shark Media Player - but I CAN recommend the "Action Replay Max EVO" for playing MP3s, video files like MPEGs, and Sega Genesis Roms on the PS2.

All work great via CD-R or USB Pen Drive on the program's "media player".

Which ... in general is all kind of silly to do on a PS2 when there are DVD players that cost $20 new that can play MP3's and such ...

but, then again, if your friend only has a PS2 in his entertainment center and/or bedroom setup, it's pretty neat to be able to dump tons of audio and video files on a CDR or Pen Drive and have them all easily accessible.
