Will Virtua Cop 3 ever be ported to a console? I played it for the first time last week at D&B and was totally blow away with how fun it was.

I think Virtua Cop 3's time has unfortunately come and gone. It's what, 4 years old at this point? I remember playing it in 2005, but If I recall, even then it looked dated.

I was half expecting a PS2 / Xbox port, but when that hope faded, I realised the only way I'll be ever playing this at home is in about 15 years when it's playable on MAME.

*sigh* it's almost criminal that VC3 never got a home port.

Still, on the plus side, Time Crisis 4 on PS3 is uber awesome, and RE Umbrella Chronicles is good on Wii, plus you also have the House of the Dead bundle on Wii to look forward to.

i wish it would come out on console too. I have always been a big fan. Still play the other two on the Saturn.

I don't see why a port to wii or ps2 or something is impossible.

It ran on Sega's Xbox-based Chihiro hardware. Supposedly, the planned Xbox port of Virtua Cop 3 didn't come out because of House of the Dead 3 not meeting sales expectations (possibly because Sega didn't bother to make their own gun, idiots). Or if not sales, then perhaps just due to the poor light gun situation on Xbox.

A Wii port wouldn't be out of the question, considering they're coming out with House of the Dead 2 & 3, plus Ghost Squad is already out. Ghost Squad is approximately the same age as Virtua Cop 3, IIRC. If they deem it worthwhile to continue Zapper support after House of the Dead 2 & 3, Virtua Cop 3 would probably be next.

you could also get Ghost Squad on the Wii, I picked that up yesterday, haven't played it yet, but the arcade was sweet so I am fairly certain this is a safe bet.

Ghost Squad was fun but there is just nothing as fun as dual weiding 2 guns and going into slow motion mode :)

I can't see why a Wii version wouldn't be nice, seeing as how the console requires a virtual light gun as a controller. I, for one, would purchase Virtua Cop 3 in a heartbeat at a $30 pricetag similar to Ghost Squad. Make it happen Nintendo and Sega!

It is criminal that it never came to Xbox, and if the bit regarding HotD3 is true that's even worse. VC3 > HotD3 without a doubt in my mind. I don't mind chucking a few quarters in whenever I see a cab, but I really wish I could blast away at home. Sadly, I have the feeling unless I find a cabinet in my house one day, I don't think it's going to happen.

It just always annoys me that Virtua Cop 3 was never released for the home systems. Yes, it SHOULD have been on the Xbox but it didnt come out...but HotD 3 was at least released. Now, Sega goes and releases Ghost Squad for the Wii so some hope crops up. Then, they go and announce...HotD 2&3?!?!? Thats just stupid to me. Both games have been available on many systems already and this is just pure milking on Sega's part. They COULD have been cool and, I dont know, maybe give us a remake of part 1 at least or even HotD 4 (I know it ran on the 360 hardware , but still!) or better yet,, why no VC 3 or VC 1 & 2 remake?? I know a somewhat of a remake of VC 1&2 was released on the PS2 but we never got it here in the US..... Damn Sega, come on....

I don't mind the re-releasing of HOTD 2 and 3. I never got them when they were previously available.

HOTD3 is retarded. I'd rather have any of the Virtua Cop games than that POS.

I don't like the House of the Dead 2, 3 combo because the Xbox version of 3 had 2 as an unlockable anyway so there's nothing new here. They should at least throw in 1. House Trilogy would get my interest.

It's funny that House of the Dead 2+3, Ghost Squad, and Umbrella Chronicles are some of the leading reasons why I want to get a Wii. You know, I spent all of the last generation without my lightgun goodness because of the whole HDTV+standard light gun mess. This generation is all about making up for lost time.

Oh, and Konami? Police 911 1 and 2 bundle for either Wii or PS3, please. Sega? Virtua Cop Trilogy, please. Namco? Rerelease the previous Time Crisis games in a Guncon 3-supporting bundle, please. Let's get this freight train of awesomeness going proper!

Shame there's no House of the Dead 1 in there though, because it's by far the best of the trilogy and one of my favorite light gun games ever (like, up there with PS1 Time Crisis).

Until I saw this thread I never knew Virtua Cop 3 didn't get a port.

What giant rock were you living under? ;)

Speaking of possibly true light-gun sets. I agree with the House 1 statements. Easily the best in the series and one that is well overdue for a 'good' port. The hardware should be more than capable and I'm sure it will draw far more interest.

Same goes for a true Virtua Cop arcade port set. VC2 needs a good port! Probably can throw Confidential Mission in there as a bonus.

If they can do it for Silent Scope, they can do it for Virtua Cop. Those bastards...
