I'm trying to remember the name of an arcade/VR type game. I probably played it 8-10 yrs ago.

I think it was a game that you sat in, and put a visor over your eyes, but I think there was still a screen inside too. The game was touted as virtual reality, but was pretty crappy, as alot were. The graphics were just geometric shapes put together to try to make landscapes and characters. I think it was a shooting game, but the graphics were horrible so I couldn't figure out where to go. I kept getting shot by this one guy, a purple block man. When he killed you, he would say something like "Close, but no cigar!."

I think I played it in one of those family fun places, which include an arcade, food, and other crap. It wasn't Chuck E. Cheese's, but it was something like that.

I don't have anything to offer except eternal gratitude. thx

Were the controls mounted to the bottom of the VR Headset?

If they were if was probably Virtual Combat, or the VR Vortex, which was basically Virtual Combat hardware with a PC inside, that allowed the hardware to run several different games.

That sounds like every VR headset game I've ever played. I wonder how much those old things are going for now...and does anybody still invest in them?

The one featured in Hackers I believe was one of the first VR type arcade games that could be bought. It was called Dactyl Attack I believe. The one GHSQB mentioned I've seen at two family Pizza places. One is called Incredible Pizza and only seems to have the VR Combat in it. The other was identical at a Chuck E. Cheese except that it had like 3 games selectable from a menu. The one at Incredible Pizza was on a timer, but the Chuck E. Cheese unit had standard lives. I prefered the one at CEC because one of the games you could play, was in fact Incoming! from Rare! Which, is available for both the PC and DC systems.

Yeah, I guess it does sound similar to many arcade VR games. I'd probably have to play it to remember it. Oh well.
