I'm christmas shopping for my husband whom for reasons beyond my understanding has expressed intrest in some complete NES games. Usually the only games he has any interest in playing have gamer points attached. So in addition to Orange Box ( :Þ ) I'd like to put together an NES package for him. This gift would reflect the first present I ever bought for Paul, which was an SNES for his 21st birthday with a selection of all his favorite childhood games.

I'm thinking about getting him a NEX, problem is Paul's really picky about wireless controllers so to get the system with the controllers bundled is $109. I dunno if someone has a better deal on perhaps a used set?

As for games I know he loves Contra, so I'm looking for a complete or boxed copy of that. I'm watching ebay for a complete Mike Tyson's Punchout. Already found him Monster Party, which also has to be the cheapest game on his wishlist. He also loves Galaga, Karate Kid, Metroid, and Kung Fu.

Also open to suggestions on good famicom games since the NEX can play those too.

Thanks for taking the time to read over my request, maybe someone can help me out putting together a good package of games for him.

I Don't have any of the games you require, but I just wanted to say that you, miss, are a GOOD EGG!

My missus goes nuts when she even LOOKS at all the old systems cluttering up the place!

As for the NEX, the wireless controllers aren't bad at all, but what might be more problematic is the fact that the NEX doesn't support all NES mappers, meaning that it's not compatible with all games. Most standard games will work without a hitch, but some of the more obscure / advanced ones won't.

If he only wants to play games of yesteryear on it, NEX would be a great deal for you even at $109, as the enjoyment he'd receive would make it worth every penny.

If he wants to start collecting and playing a full set of Nes games, you'd be better off grabbing a Nes off ebay rather than a NEX.

I know the system doesn't have 100% compatibility but the truth of matter is he's just never going to play Castlevania 3 or L'empurer. I also own an NES already, it's just that Paul is easily aggrevated. So while I have no problems coaxing a game to work, he's more likely to lose patience and not play the damn thing at all.

Besides I have to spoil him, he puts up with my systems cluttering up the house. (:

have you considered one of the powerpaks (nes flashcart) costs a little more but it can play just about every worthwhile game (even a bunch of the goofy pirate carts) definatly a good investement imo
