View Full Version : 3DO Game Packaging

I must brag a bit of an unearthly find here in KY. I found a box of 3DO and Intellivision games in the back of an antique store, underneath some quilts my mom was looking at. Nothing rare as far as Intv. games go, but I did manage to snag Vol. 1-3 of the 3DO Woody Woodpecker series and a few of the Vivid adult titles...all for $10, including the Intv. stuff :rocker: .

My question is...none of these "games" I purchased come in a traditional 3DO box (the long cardboard kind). The Woody Woodpecker titles are in regular jewel cases and the Vivid titles have a cardboard slip cover, with all the movie info on the outside. I was never "big" into 3DO when it first came out, but after today, I just might be. Is this how these titles were originally packaged? Anyone know?

Wow, nice find! I don't think I've EVER seen those WW discs before (even on ebay). You should keep them all and start collecting for 3DO. Now that you got all the hard-to-find titles, getting the rest will be easy!

The Woody discs were indeed just shrink wrapped jewel cases. The Vivid titles are a mess. I've seen some in carboard boxes (size and shape of adult VHS boxes), carboard slip covers and plain shrink wrapped jewel cases. I don't know if the carboard boxed ones have the slip covers or not.

For some reason, the Vivid "mess" doesn't surprise me...I also picked up something called "Toon Time," which is in the traditional 3DO cardboard box, but there are no instructions. Am I looking at this thing right? These are just cartoons?

Yep, "Toon Time in the Classroom" is just cartoons. I think you have some interactivity in that you can "paste" the cartoon onto various geometric images, but ultimately you're just watching cartoons projected onto a ball or a block or a flat square. YAWN.

But I REALLY do need to work a trade with you for Woody 2 and 3. I have the first one, and those other two are the LAST TITLES I NEED to complete my 3DO collection! Come on, let's deal!

hmmmm.....

<thumbs through DP Guide>

Wife ask's "whatcha doin'?"

<explains trade possibility>

:smash:

<rolls around floor in pain and awe>

...think the wife says "no"...sorry Joe, but I'll go back there on a regular basis and keep my eyes open. There's GOT to be more there. You know, I always wanted a Colecovision when I was a child... ;)

About half the Vivid titles came in those silly light cardboard slipcases. The other half came in the full size boxes, especially some of the early ones. I've seen Plumbers Don't Wear Ties in the big box before (don't ask!). By the way...those Vivid titles are TRULY awful....I think i saw a nipple in one once.....

Plumbers Don't Wear Ties isn't a Vivid title, and does come in a standard 3DO box.

I missed what just happened above though, PCP. You thumbed through the Guide, your wife declined the trade? I'm definitely missing something here!

Doh! Thought all the AO titles were by Vivid..my bad. Either way, I hated all the AO titles I ever saw (which wasn't many).

And I gathered that his wife turned down the trade for him for that too.

That story literally made my stomach hurt. Absolutely incredible. Stuff like that never happens to me.

You should trade w/ DP. I would give you $100 for those discs without even thinking about it.

Nope...that's pretty much the story...kinda goes back to some old history with myself...a bad habit I have of trading things "valuable" to me for things I don't need, like when I found a NEW TG16 at a Babbage's a few years ago, purchased it, then traded it for some low grade comics...I still kick myself for such a bone-head move...the guilt and regret kills me still :( . My wife is just trying to save me some grief, God bless her. So, I must respectfully decline. I could send you a picture of Woody and his friends (Peter Panda and what was the penguin's name?)...but I suppose that wouldn't be nice. :)

Besides, with all the excitement everyone's stirring up, I suppose I should keep them. I had no idea and old cartoon character from the 50s would be so interesting to so many people. O_O

Joe, I DO have a copy of "Love Bites" and a copy of "Ballz" that smells like armpit, if you're interested. LOL

@Kid Ice...geeze, didn't mean to make you sick! Now look what I've done with my happy news! :( I'm sorry!

Now why would I do that to you? In fact, I propose that this is the very OPPOSITE of that. You'd be trading something very not-at-all-valuable to you for something that you DO need.

Just tell me what you need. A ColecoVision is a good start.

We can work through this. Publicly, if you so choose :)

Oh, no no...no implications meant :P

those other two are the LAST TITLES I NEED to complete my 3DO collection!

...oh, MAN!

Well, being the completest that I am and even though it's not MY collection being completed....oh what the hell! I don't even have a 3DO to play them on anyway...although the Easter Bunny said something about one ending up in my basket this year :D

Well, thanks to a vindictive ex-girlfriend of mine who sold my ENTIRE video game collection several years ago, I'm open to almost anything you've got, Joe...including a copy of Radical Rex for Sega CD LOL

If you like, I can Priority mail them to you, you take a look at them and see if they're OK, and we can go from there...how about a coin-op "Bagman?" ;)

BTW, yeah my wife knows and has put the stick away...no more whacking me on the head for today...that hurts!

I'll PM you with details. I'm sure we can work something out that will make you AND your wife happy. :D

Yippie! It's Christmas in July! er, April or whatever....

<Thinks back to childhhod memories of playing Munchman at the Sears Texas Instrument display>

:)

<Suddenly remembers ex-girlfriend taking copy of Atari 2600 MASH and selling it, along with the t-shirt that came with it>

>:(

<Remembers mom playing Superman on Atari 2600 more than I or my brother ever did>

LOL

Good Lord, I can't make up my mind!
