12-03-2007, 12:10 PM
Since there are no conflicts with New Years, the first South Jersey Classic of 2008 will be held on Saturday, January 5th.

This month a few additions will be made to the store, which will be revealed in a bit.

We have a new game in our Neo Geo MVS...Zupapa!, a very fun Bubble Bobble type game.

Here is the info of the store:

Location:
1031 Little Gloucester Rd
Blackwood, NJ 08012
(at the intersection of Blackwood-Clementon and Little Gloucester Rds)

When:
Saturday January 5th 2008...11:00 - Late.

More information will be added throughout the month.

I'm definitely coming.

We should plan a simple tournament. It never happens because we don't plan it first. Can anyone think of a good game? I'll start off the suggestions with Jammit for 3DO.

And the Arcade has new buttons and in a few weeks, will have new sticks also.

I can't think of a good VS. game right now, but I will come up with one.

Hoo-ah, My sister just got home and gave me the Saturn I asked her to buy in Indiana for $25 as a gift. It is boxed damn near mint, all it needs is the baggies or twist ties for the accessories. Other then that, A+. \m/, Rock on.

Man, are you guys suckers! Anyone who's spent any time at all around here KNOWS that if this was an authentic and genuine SJ Classic announcement, the event would take place the same day as NAVA up in the northern region, and there would then be half-hearted written jabs between the respective organizers, followed up with presumably sincere comments expressing friendship, and apologies if any offense was taken.

Given that the two events are 6 days seperated this month, the ONLY reasonable conclusion is that somebody got a hold of Drexel's login credentials, and is impersonating him to post an obviously fraudulent announcement! Maybe some day we'll learn the identity of the rogue that did this, and the motives behind such a despicable and low act.

I came to the conclusion that it's on the first Saturday of the month like it always is. Since I'm the only one that goes to each event pretty much every time, I think it blows when they're both the same day.

I'm going to be there. As long as there is Monkey Bread!

My suggestions for the psuedo-tournament are:
Mario-Kart 64
Golden Eye
Wipeout XL
Warlords
Mortal Kombat -SNES

Kid Ice

Wipeout XL

I've always been curious to try the PSX system link. I'll bring a couple monitors and Playstations to try it out (and the link cable). If you've got linkable games, bring em!

DESCENT!!!

Say, wonder if Demolition Derby is linkable....

Keep in mind you have to have two copies of the games to play (which is why I've never done this before). I've got both of those (you mean Destruction Derby) so I'll bring mine too.

Can someone bring the first Armored Core? ;-)

I believe both R4 and Wipeout 3 have hidden link modes as well...

oh and, err, Doom :-)

Damnit! I got confused as to which thread I was posting in. I don't think I'll be able to make the drive down to SJ this time.

January 5th, 7pm, I'm throwing a birthday party for my wife, and need to get things ready before then. Using 4 hours of the day for driving to/from isn't gonna work.

Kid Ice - I'll bring to NAVA a copy of Descent or an extra link cable for you to borrow, in case you want them for next weekend.

I'm sorry, Episode I is inferior to the original Math Blaster trilogy.

I'll have two Commodore monitors, 1 original Playstation, and the link cable. If someone else can bring an original PSX we should be good to go for some link up goodness.

My ETA is probably going to be a little later than usual. :-(

Nick has a bunch of PS1 systems, I'd let him chime in here before anyone brings a system. I still have to check my collection for the link capable games.

I have a whole bunch of link-capable games, two copies of each, available if anyone wants to pick them up and borrow them for SJC. We had two systems set up for about a month at the store and during that time I hunted down quite a bit, they're all together in a nice tidy package.

Have fun fellas and here's wishing for a fun and prosperous year at Nick's store!

This was the best event at Nick's store yet if you ask me. The tournament was all 4 player games across systems....very risky technology wise, but it worked!

IIRC (feel free to correct):

Game 1: Super Off Road NES

Game 2: Super Monkey Ball 2, Gamecube

Game 3: Rush 2049 stunt mode, Dreamcast

Game 4: Worms World Party, PSX

Game 5: Warlords, VCS

The winner was Vectoman0 who also beat my Geometry Wars score and is generally becoming a pain in the ass.

Someone brought a VCS game called "Mr. Postman" so we had fun trying to figure that out.

There was a lot of food and drink.

A disgruntled customer sucked the air out of the place. Apparently some clown traded in a busted PSP. ;-)

What else...there was just A LOT of gaming going on...there were people sitting on the floor playing Tetris DS...two guys had Neo Geo Pockets linked up and were playing who knows what...Minnesota Fats, Beatmania, Nintendo Playchoice games...good stuff.

MonoTekETeA

Kid Ice working them angles like a mad man in Warlords.

By the way, Minnesota Fats is going to be the first game that I own for the Sega Saturn. It should have been bundled with the system, just like the Wii, It would not have been a flop.

I got robbed in Warlords, but it made up for me kicking ass in Worms and Super Off-Road.

The following things can "Go to hell":

Monkey Target
San Fran Rush 2049 Stunt Mode

Also, my new favorite thing to do at Nick's store is play Mike Tyson's Punchout on the Playchoice. It's a totally different skill with an 8-way joystick.

Also, Mike (aka Pliskin) I totally forgot about that Mutant League Hockey, hit me up.

You can beat me or Mickey in Warlords?

BTW Worms isn't a game....it's a club. It's like Dungeons and Dragons or something.

def'ly the most excellent gathering yet. great vibe, nice turnout, FUN tourney! it was awsome after an almost 7 year wait to finally link play MOTM for NGPC.

the only downside to this gathering was my own douchebaggery after my meds wore off and i RIOTED against Arcana Heart, YuKI designhouse, and yelled all over my homie djbm.

i'm like a gremelin or something---can't game civily past midnight.

* sugs for next meet up*
LETS really make a point to get the PSX linky fun happenin', and i'll bring my maracas x2 and samba DC. how often do we get a chance to game w/others on such a large scale?

the cool part about a gathering like this is that it's held in a big enough and private
enough space that it can actually happen...no worries about squeezing everyone into a small (living)room and/or disturbing the neighbors.

thanks again to Nick for hosting, and to everyone who made the trip.

possible spectacle at the next gathering? my steel battalion set up, complete w/ wraparound flattened refrigerator box painted cammo stylee for the cockpit. it's no warlords; however, giant robo link play could be fun.
