there are sooo many things wrong with that list.. Like why even bother saying FF 4/5/6 when were talking USA here.. (5 was never released here btw) Just say FF 2.. And don't double up.. FF2 is far from the game of FF3.. FAR FROM THE GAME.. FF2 is like 25 if that.. ff3 is one of the top 10.. and why the Mario/kart/rpg?

Lol, I hate flaming your lists but you always start em and they never get maintained right. Don't even get me started on the Panzar Dragoon Saga - Amiga on the 25 greatest RPG list of yours lol.

Uniracers sucked. How did it deserve to be in the top 25?

Where's Mega Man X?

That was the first time you have played fzero... how sad. and yet it is in your top 25. oh well.
Anyway here are a few things i wouldn't have had in the top 25 or at least so far up
Earthbound (this wasn't even that fun, just rare, maybe 20th)
Actraiser ~ There are no words
Kirby Superstar ~ Not deserving
Zelda 3 is known as Legend of Zelda A link to the Past and it should be in the top 10

I have to say I don't really care for your list much. Zelda and Metroid both deserve high slots. Earthworm Jim is pretty forgettable and the list itself is inconsistent (Mortal Kombat sucks). I'd say give all of the games you have listed some serious hours, and then rework the hell out of it...

BTW: Actraiser is NOT the best SNES game!

WiseSalesman
08-17-2002, 12:07 PM
Actraiser may not be the best SNES game, but at least put it back on the damn list!

Were it me, I'd drop Earthbound, Earthworm Jim, and Contra 3.

Make FF2 and FF3 sepereate games on the list. Also, I'd add Donkey Kong Country.

Rogmeister

You have Metroid listed twice, as "Metroid" (which is actually an NES game) and "Super Metroid". You should delete one and that will open up a space for another game.

F-Zero is probably my favorite racer (excluding Mario Kart), so I think it should have at least a top 15 spot. As far as my actual top 5, it would look something like this:

1. Super Metroid
2. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
3. Super Mario All-Stars
4. Super Mario Kart
5. Wow, you see it gets tough here...

Final Fantasy III, Actraiser, F-Zero, Starfox, Contra III, Castlevania IV, Yoshi's Island, Mario World and Tetris Attack are all so much fun!!!

Not to mention I haven't played Chrono Trigger OR Super Mario RPG (Yeah, I suck...) You have your work cut out for you. But my top 4 is pretty accurate I think. I have played through all of those games dozens of times.

Now for some of the bottom 10 games on the list... I'd consider Secret of Mana, Secret of Evermore, Final Fantasy II, the Lufia series, Battletoads: Battlemaniacs (NO ONE will agree with me on this one, but I used to play this game for hours), DKC 1-3, Super Punch-out!! Gradius, R-Type, Mega Man 7, Mega Man X 1-3........... the SNES has TOO MANY awesome games. I'd say lower the list down to the top 10. Otherwise you'll have an EGM list on your hands (though Metroid III has been my favorite game for years, and I did agree with a lot of the games (just not their placement). Oh well... Good luck.

lawdy.

this list is missing stuff, big time. first things fist:
put the ff games together. and any sequels. drop u.n. slowdown, uniracers, and secret of evermore.

add:

alien 3 (if you've never played it- that's your assignment for this weekend)
super turrican (ditto)
metal marines (ditto)
ogre battle (without it, there'd be NO ff tactics, lol)

oh yeah- eartbound needs to go back up. anyone who didn't like it shouldn't be playing rpgs (or plays just ONE type of rpg), plain as that...

geelw
09-19-2002, 02:52 PM
it's a given that the ff games are great. combine them.
lufia/lufia 2. ditto
lemming/lemmings 2. yah. yah. though i'd drop both like a hot rock for krusty's fun house.
super mario world/lost levels. combo special. with 6 you get eggroll.

you get the point? open up the list to more than the same game over and over. it sounds like those are the only games in your collection, the way that list is structured...=^P

Thank god you included Super Smash TV. If that wasn't on there, I'd've hurt someone :D

Just put in the Mario All-Stars/World cart. It'll save you a spot.

Drop Super R-Type. R-Type III is enough.

When you put Gradius, I'm assuming you meant Gradius 3? Might wanna change that...

Where's Super Double Dragon? Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV?

And for god's sake, get Super Ghouls 'N Ghosts on there!!!

ratmankey
09-23-2002, 06:07 AM
Metal Marines? Megaman X2?

And Final Fantasy really shouldn't be listed as a series. Cause that would mean you were including Mystic Quest, and I think we can all agree that would be a very very bad idea :D

Here's the rest in no particular order:

Super Mario Kart
Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
Top Gear 3000
Bubsy
Super Metroid
Super Mario All-Stars
Nigel Mansell's World Championship Racing
Starwing
SimCity
Mario Paint (simply because of the creativity it promoted)
Donkey Kong Country

I find that a Top 50 list to be quite absurd, as everyone likes different types of games. When you get further down the list, there are plenty of games that deserve to be there that are equally fun, certainly more than 50. A top 10 might be more feasible, but then you will have the same disagreements from people who like different genres, and hate others.

That's my 2 cents.

where are the 2 calassic arcade packs(Wiiliams arcade greatest hits and Midway presents arcade greatest hits: The Atari collection 1) and Sim city 2000 other than that I don't care.

Am I the only one who thinks The Legend of the Mystical Ninja should be on the list?

I'm not sure what I would drop to make room though, maybe Gradius III? It's been a while since I played it, but IIRC the slowdown made that game practically unplayable.

I like how everyone is dissing the list because they think one game or another should be higher or lower. It’s not in best to worst order its in alphabetical order. Actraiser is the number one game not because it's things it’s the best but because it is higher up according to alphabetical rules.

I personally don't think Battletoads was all that great on the SNES nor did I like Stunt Race FX. Also the only DK Country that should be on there is the first one. The first one was good but the rest just felt stale. I also agree that Mystical Ninja should be on there and so should Out of This World. Also one of the R-types should go, I say the first. You don't need two when both the games were pretty much the same old thing.

I'd vote to kick Space Megaforce. It felt like nothing but an excuse to cram a bunch of Mode 7 effects into one game, not that a few others like CV4 and Axelay weren't. In it's place? Castlevania: Dracula X! I found it quite difficult, with lots of little tricks in the level design. The bosses weren't so hot, but... it was still fun.

Also, I'd replace FF1 with FF3. The SNES version of FF was abysmal.

(the only real FF is Final Fight)

Sorry that I'm posting in an old topic, but it REALLY bothers me that Street Racer isn't on that list. I like it better than Super Mario Kart. One of my top 10 favorite SNES games.

i would

1. take Secret of Evermore out

2. combine Super Mario World and Super Mario All Stars (they come on one cart)

3. add Uniracers

4. add E.V.O or Griffey Baseball

I would probably concur regarding Uniracers and Griffey baseball (the first one, definitely not the second one). I would probably disagree about combining Super Mario World and Super Mario All-Stars, though. They were not originally on the same cart so I think they should remain separated...as they are in my collection.

the problem with lists like this are that everyone has different tastes...hell a guy on page one says Uniracers sucks...and on page 2 someone else says put it back in! It will be impossible to do this, and it will only cause fights..you know im right :P...

That's why the majority rules...people suggest things, games are discussed...and then they can vote on what to keep or what to get rid of.

Lord_Magus

hmm... From that list, I think I would take out:

Alien 3
Battletoads in Battlemaniacs
Cybernator
Final Fight
Metal Marines
Simcity
Space Megaforce
Stunt Race FX
Super R-Type
Super Smash TV
Zombies ate my Neighbors

Although all the above are great games, I don't believe they deserve to be on the top 50 list. Personally, I would replace them with:

Another World\Out of this World
Batman Returns
Castlevania: Dracula X\Vampire Kiss
Demons Crest
Flashback
Gods
Jim Power - Lost Dimension in 3D
Prince of Persia
Super Ghouls and Ghosts
Super Turrican I
Super Turrican II

There, justice is served :D

Rogmeister
05-30-2005, 04:04 PM
I would have to protest about Zombies...this game MUST remain in the list. And Super Turrican 1 and II? I don't know if we need two spots being taken up from games of the same series. Is it that good? I'd probably like to see Super Smash TV stay on the list but I'm not as vehement about that one as I am Zombies Ate My Neighbors... :D

If you haven't played the Turrican games, I definitely recommend you try them out - especially Super Turrican II is one of the most well-programmed SNES games out there.

But I understand what you mean about having two games from the same series on the list.

Solution: we put the two Turrican games together as Super Turrican I+II, and we leave Zombies in there as well. Problem solved ;)

Breath of Fire I & II...they both easily replace Secret of Evermore

and where is Genghis Khan II: Clan of the Gray Wolf? That game was awesome!

What about Super Buster Bros.? That game is awesome, if you haven't you look for a copy, before they get too hard to get(it's R6). Trust me, it's worth it.

So that makes two games that need to be on the list(Super Buster Bros. and Street Racer)

Ackman
06-14-2005, 10:19 AM
Castlevania: Dracula X\Vampire Kiss

definately :D

dkc2 was also tops 3 was a bit of a yawn but still alright and better than most, Super Double Dragon is so much better than any battletoads game it isn't even funny only the arcade game could put up a fight...

I'd say the nostalgia factor is kicking in way to high with this list.....

Also Add in Tecmo Superbowl any of them for that matter

really you can't have top anything without least one sports game. Tecmo Super Bowl or Tecmo Super Bowl Final Edition would fit the bill. Best football games on the SNES and easily deserve at least one spot ont the top 50 list.

I think your wrong. At top 50, I think that a lot of people will have about 30 games or so in common. I think that with a top 10 only about 2 or 3 games will be in common.
I made my own list and compared it to theaveng's list and we had 23 games in common. I did how ever like these games rather than some.

Uniracers
Lamborghini American Challenge
Aerofighters
Metal Combat
Ninja Gaiden Trilogy
Stunt Race FX
Battleclash
Soldiers of Fortune
Earth Worm Jim
Earth Worm Jim 2
Super Return of the Jedi
Jungle Strike
Killer Instinct
King Arthur's World
Lethal Enforcer
Spider-man and X-Men
Maximum Carnage
Saturday Night Slam Masters
Sparkster
Spawn
Vegas Stakes
Turn N Burn
Urban Strike
WWF RAW
X-Men Mutant Apocalypse
Super Ghouls N Ghosts
TMNT Tournament Fighters

We had in common MMX, MM7, FF3, TMNT4, SF2, Cybernator/Metal Warriors, SMW, SMAS, DKC, StarFox, Battletoads, MK Series, Kirby SS, LOZ, Rock N Roll Racing, SM RPG, Super Punch-OUt, SMK, F-Zero, Chronotrigger, Super Metroid, Super Castlevania 4, and Earthbound.

yeah AF is a solid game the only thing I disliked about it is that for me, to get maximum enjoyment out of it (and reduce the chances of my wrist falling off) I got to play this sucker with an auto-fire controller. To me the non "rapid" option for a shooter past the NES always bugged me. There should be at least the option of playing it rapid or not.

BTW, at one point, I owned as many as 3 AF copies ;)

1. eBay BIN $35 shipped, hell of a deal as I would later find out (they hit as high as 90, back here I thought 35-40 was its rate) Kept this copy

2. flea market (traded for it with 4 VHS fighting game movies I couldn't PAY anyone to get rid of online!) Sold this sucker for $50

3. little store out in my area, $25 which I eBayed and sold for $53

In essence, I got my original copy... for free, and THEN SOME!
