A time-honored tradition of Santulli-hosted events, a "tweener" is defined as a party that falls on the Saturday between Christmas and New Years Day. Thus, the December NAVA becomes this "tweener" and will be held on December 29th this year. Bring your holiday cheer, the games you got that you're ready to trade away, and general gaming spirit.

If you missed the last event you missed quite a lot. The store had a special visit from Activision programmers Garry Kitchen (Keystone Kapers, Pressure Cooker, 2600 Donkey Kong, Space Jockey) and Dan Kitchen (Crackpots, River Raid II, 2600 Ghostbusters) who addressed NAVA attendees with tales of "back in the day". We also hosted our first Starcade game show.

If you're on our list here, you are automatically invited to attend. This NAVA will be much like any other. There will be trading, gaming, greco-roman wrestling, Pinata bashing, and opening and closing tar pits with swinging ropes to cross. OK, maybe it's a *little* different than usual.

At 6pm we will host the return of our Atari Free-For All tournament. If you've been here for this before you know what to expect. Well, kinda.

A few things to keep in mind as you're preparing for NAVA:

1. Bring things to trade or sell. Everyone is looking for stuff, every NAVA brings great deals.

2. If you can, bring snacks and/or soda. I spring for the pizza but that's a one-time event. There needs to be enough snackage and soda'age for the before and after!

3. NAVA members get a 10% discount on new or used games, anything excluding hardware. There's always a secret phrase to use at the register. This time, the phrase is "Nothing is keener than a NAVA tweener".

So get ready for a big gathering and feel free to email or call if you have any questions prior to the event.

WHEN: Saturday, December 29th, noon to midnight
WHERE: Digital Press Videogames (see http://www.digitpress.com/store/ for directions).
WHAT: Lots of trading, lots of gaming, and lively chatter among gaming aficionados.

Do we have a roll call yet for this weekend’s NAVA? Being the holiday’s I’m still up in the air myself. What could persuade me is if anyone has a PSP they are willing to trade. I’ve only decided in the past few days that I want one, and before I run out and buy it I wanted to see if any of the regulars have one for trade. Ideally I want to use it to run homebrew and would like it to be running the latest which as far as I can tell is 3.71 M33-4.

I’m willing to break into my primary collection for trade bait, so shoot me a PM and let me know what you might be looking for.

I will be there and I will have super cheap games to get rid of (Playstation and Dreamcast).

I thought I had already posted in here. Anyway, I am definitely coming and might even have some money to spend.

I'll have some stuff to trade also, most notably a Saturn system and a sealed Outrun 2006 Coast to Coast for Xbox. I'm looking for 2600 and Vectrex (including homebrews) items needed for my collection. I also would like to pick up a console or two I don't own, such as the 5200, 7800, Intellivision, Colecovision, Game Gear, Lynx, Jaguar, Master System, CD-I and Virtual Boy. I would also love to get a Sega CD and Genesis Setup, to replace the shoddy one I have.

EDIT - I also really need some PS2, Xbox and Gamecube Replacement Cases. About 5 for Xbox and PS2 and 2 for Gamecube; I want them in really good condition and am willing to pay $1 each if they are mint. I also need 2 copies of Cruisn' USA.

I'll be there sans the lovely Lissette (she's home with the folks for the holidays - Florida) ...

... and as per usual I'll probably bring more chips than are humanly consumable, some type of fresh baked treat (still looking for some sugar-free cookie mix) and at least ONE interesting item for trade or sale (probably even MORE than one!!)

For sure I'll be bringing that external Blaze brand "fat PSP" AV output device (it's surprisingly good!!!)

a complete boxed 7800 (which Vectorman has first dibs on)

my autographed Mega64 Resident Evil 4 sketch-worn prop (for show and tell only, not for trade or sale) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7oXx0qwe0wc

...and maybe some other neat stuff from my high-security "deep storage" station thousands of feet below the Earth's crust.

see you there!

They will be the same price as the last SJC ($3, 2 for $5), then whatever is left over from NAVA goes down to $2 at January SJC. I expect to have very little left after that (I mean $2, really) whatever's left goes for my summer eBay stuff.

I will likely be in attendance. I'll have a box of stuff (maybe two)...mostly older stuff.

We'll be doing another "random retro" Atari tournament at 6, always fun and we haven't done one of these in awhile. Ideally I need Kid Ice, killersqurel (both previous winners of this event) and CX2K in this one for a true clash of the titans.

There will be a PC Engine Duo available for play, with plenty of games from my personal collection. Expect lots of weird stuff as well as "expected" stuff like Castlevania X to play.

Request: the store was cleaned out over these past two weeks so I'm looking to re-stock. Bring me your common Mario's, Castlevania's, and Mega Man's!

I'll come for the Random Retro as long as you can promise me you won't make me play Warlords. Fair enough?

I know better to say anything about what I *don't* want to play. ;-)

Quick update and reminder... it's TOMORROW. Don't miss out.

We'll have a Wii running as well as a PC Engine Duo sporting all kinds of rare and unusual games. Hopefully you can play something you've never seen or heard of before. That's my goal!

See ya's tomorrow.

Sorry gang, I'm under the weather today and I would not be doing anyone a favor by coming. The "clash of the titans" will have to go on without me, although honestly in that scenario I would merely be that strange looking mechanical owl.

I was glad I stopped in late to say hi, haven't been to a meeting in months. It was good to see some familiar faces and meet some new ones. I hope I can catch the next one! Happy new year!!!!!!

I second that remark.

I had a great time as always ... and proud to have made it to the final match in the Random 2600 Tournament.

You bested me in Outlaw THIS TIME Vectorman0 but I'll get you next time!

I'm sorry I missed it also but I was in San Diego with the family for a week and just got back this morning.

I know I won't be able to make the next one as I have to attend a Bar Mitzvah on 1/19 and I'm taking my kid camping in New York during the weekend of 1/26.

Happy New Year all!

Thanks to all who attended!

I'm pretty excited to have scored things for MY collection for a change. I acquired a boxed complete Threshold for ColecoVision and boxed complete Panorama Cotton for MegaDrive. I also finally got a working Famicom Disk System, so thanks to PingvinBlueJeans and geelw for all of that.

We have yet another retro champion, Vectorman0 won this time out. Hopefully by the spring we can have a unification tournament with all three previous champions in the mix!

For the first time, I believe I have some NAVA VIDEO to add to the photo pages. I'll be working on that tomorrow, stay tuned.
