Mods, feel free to lock this if this is inappropriate, but does anyone know a good place I can find Daphne MPEG's??
I've currently got Space Ace, DL 1 & 2, and Cliffhanger. But I'm looking for Astron Belt, MACH 3, and Bega's Battle, US vs. Them, and Cobra Command.
I can never seem to find any on usenet. And when I do, they're usually incomplete.

I could never figure out how to get Daphne mpeg's to play in the emulator though. Don't you need to create a text file for each one that has all start/stop times of each scene?

Don't bother "searching" for them, just install the "Daphne for Dummies" torrent, it runs from right within the Daphne software and there are only a few that it won't automatically fetch.

It was a real headache to find WORKING daphne MPEGS before I found this solution.

I think the new version of Daphne will automacally download and set them up if you have the digital lesure DVD. I got mine at a used movies and games store for $5. I havn't tried it yet thoguh...I just remember reading it on their page not long ago.

Daphne will auto download Dragon's Lair, Dragon's Lair 2, and Space Ace automatically.
The remaining roms/mpegs will require either manual fetch and install, OR the program that I listed above.
It installs and runs quietly from within Daphne, when you attempt to load a game from within Daphne that you don't have on your HDD, it will automatically download, and install it.
That's it, problem solved, all questions answered. That's why it's called "Daphne for Dummies".

Just currious...how long does it typically take to download the mpegs and what disk space will it take. I've been planning on adding laserdisk games to my cab but probally won't have enough space untill I add an extra hard drive.

Well, they all download via torrent ... so, the time varries, but each game I've downloaded has taken upwards of 5-10 hours. Which, isn't bad considering how un-compressed the video is.
If I didn't know better I'd think I was playing the original laser discs. And I'm a huge LD game buff with a very discerning eye. (Some of them even have some very minor and brief "tracking" distortion on the screen ... which, IMO adds to the expereince.) Even the recently released Dragon's Lair Blu Ray (which is beautiful) doesn't compare to the accuracy and "arcade feel" of Daphne.
The average file size of a Laserdisc image is around 600 or so MB ...
if you intend to put more than just Dragon's Lair, Space Ace and Dragon's Lair 2 on your computer, it can get a bit space-consuming. It wouldn't hurt to drop a few bucks on an external HDD and have the whole Daphne program resident on that with the Roms and Laserdisc images ... so it can move with system upgrades, or go mobile if needed for whatever reason.

This is an old thread but I'm having an issue with the "dummies" program. When DaphneLoader gets to the point where it needs to download game support files, I get an "HTTP Header Error". I assume this has something to do with bit torrent?
I tried opening my 6881 port (as suggested) but it doesn't seem like it's working, and from what I've read, Comcast restricts access through this port for whatever reason (i.e. I can't change it).
Maybe that dummies program isn't supported anymore and the some newer version of daphne is incompatible? HELP!?

Hmmmm... I haven't had a need to use D for D recently but it was working as of last year.
There's a chance that the program no longer works.
I would check the Daphne forums out, they're very helpful and they might be able to answer that question, and as far as I know the program isn't any sort of "taboo"

Disregard any certificate errors that come up, the forum is safe for your browser.
*EDIT* ... poked around the forum there, and if you're a Comcast customer it looks like Comcast may specifically be restricting Daphne related torrents. (could be a conspiracy theory considering what else they DO allow torrented ... but who knows.)

I currently have Dragon's Lair 1 and 2 DVDs coming in the mail, will me being on comcast interfere with me being able to run these games with Daphne? Not sure what downloads are necessary for them or if it converts it from the disc, etc.

Daphne needs to torrent all of the MPEGs. Even the ones that Digital Leisure gave their blessing on the Daphne project using. Dragon's Lair, Space Ace, Dragon's Lair II and Thayer's Quest.
The DVDs only "unlock" your ability to legally play those titles, they don't really do anything else.
If you hit the torrent error when trying to download Dragon's Lair, Space Ace or DL II Comcast is likely the cause of the problem according to what's been said on the Daphne forums.
But, again, you really should ask about it there ... I'm a huge Daphne enthusiast but I never really had any problems to the point where I needed to trouble-shoot and become an expert in fixing issues or doing anything manually with the software.
