it looks GOOD considering it's a huge open-ended game world. the lighting looks exellent.

I didn't expect much better considering the limitations of Xbox 360 and PlayStation3 (it takes ALOT of their GPU and memory resources just to get games running in HD resolution) and the fact that their GPUs are 2004-2005 technology.

It looks cool, though the lighting effects are driving me a little batty. It's got that weird Super Mario Galaxy sheen to it, and it just doesn't work for GTA.

Can't wait though.

thought the game looked pretty amazing, but the character models do seem to have a weirdness about them. Some kind of sheen over them. Hard to explain. I loved the way how the guys eyebals would move around independently, and how they blinked and stuff like that. It's the little details that Rockstar North always includes that I'm so impressed with.

That one scene where a guy is running from a helicopter and two police cars chasing him down a street in Manhattan at twilight was fricking spectacular.

Of course, we really didn't see anything other than cutscenes, and althought the cutscenes are using the in game engine, it's kinda like watching video's of Madden replays. The actual gameplay viewpoint is much less impressive. Still, I can easily tell that I'm going to have an absolute blast with this game.

Looks like another GTA to me and the graphics look bad compared to games like Gears, But then again it is a sandbox game. I wonder what sweet mods will end up in the PC version and what crazy rumors will end up in this one? Leatherface hunting, Anyone? :)

Looks REALLY good for a sandbox game, but the FPS drops quite a lot in the new trailer. I hope they lock the full game to at least 30 by release.

anyone know what song that is on the trailer?

Once again, Rockstar makes a trailer that is seriously Hollywood worthy. I thought it looked amazing, especially for a sandbox game. Hopefully the frame rate issue will be worked out by release.

Oh, and how about those helicopters?:eek 2:

The voice acting is kinda corny, isn't it?

Character's have blinked in games since the NES. Why is it impressive all the sudden? Because it's in HD?

I don't really care about the game - I don't have a next-gen system.

However, the bits of story that showed up DID get me interested, so at the least, I'll give it a playthrough once I get a 360.

It's just another GTA game and I had enough of the series since San Andreas, I'll pass.

hollywood worthy? were we watching the same trailer? (the new on on XBL?)

rockstar has shit for brains when it comes to making good models and realistic looking textures, the environments, cars and people look nothing short of terrible -- but dont get me wrong, they are worlds better than the last 3 GTAs. but it really looks like just an updated HD version of their old engine.

all this aside, i cant wait. wish i could play this on the pc, but i know it always takes like a year to port (fucking sell-outs, this series was born on the PC!) so i already have the the LE reserved for months.

Wow, I didn't realize the trailer would get this negative of a response. I'll agree that the characters are far from realistic looking, but the textures? What more are you really looking for? As far as I could tell the buildings, cars, lighting, explosions, everything seemed too look pretty damn realistic.

Don't worry, the haters made up their mind long before seeing the trailer. GTA is the big guy on the block and you'll always have that vocal minority that can't wait to tear down the popular franchises. It's pathetic and predictable.

I can't wait for this game. The haters can go pout by themselves in their parents basement. While they're typing out new posts about the monthly sales totals of Wii games and consoles, the rest of the us will be playing one the finest games of this generation.

Impressive.

I can't say I'm super excited for it, but I'm sure I'll love the game.

Although I may lose interest halfway through and give it up, I'm sure I'll get some enjoyment out of the new graphics and gameplay. This is the first trailer I've watched for the game and it looks good to me. Looking forward to picking up a copy on release day. I may check to see if the LE's are still available for reserve.

Graphics were kinda sub par for a next gen system. I mean the lips don't even move well to the voices. Other than that, I think the graphics look better than the previous games. The cars looked better. Then again, I never played GTA for graphics, it was always about gameplay. I'll have to wait and see how that is, granted I don't see rockstar messing with it too much.

True, but GTA games have always had pretty ugly graphics.

Take 1: Looks good, however the animation on the characters is weak at best.
Take 2: If you just hit enter instead of chosing your birthday will play the video... talk about lip service to protecting the youth...

If the characters have individual digits on each hand, I'll be happy. The GTA "mitten hands" need to stay in the last generation.

I get more excited to play this game every time I see a new trailer. This one is no different.

Once again, Rockstar makes a trailer that is seriously Hollywood worthy.

You think so? New gangster on the block with no compelling reason to root for him. Yeah, I guess that's Hollywood. I'd have liked to have seen a synopsis...maybe something that sets this protagonist apart from the others. New guy getting pushed around and learning to be hardcore. I'm tired of that story. I'm a little bias though, I'm not a GTA or Rockstar fan so I always have that "What's so good about it?" chip on my shoulder.
Visuals: Meh.
Characters: Less than meh.
Story: There wasn't one so meh.
It seems like every game after 3 has been an expansion pack. The trailer didn't tell me anything I didn't already expect but I'm not a part of their demographic so I may have missed the new gun.
So the view from an outsider: It didn't excite me at all.
I hope you guys enjoy it though.

I do think so. When I said that it was "Hollywood like" I was speaking specifically about the cinematography in the ad. To me, the GTA trailers have always come the closest to giving me that "movie-like" advertisement feel.

New guy getting pushed around and learning to be hardcore.

Also, judging from what you think the story is about, I'd say the trailer did it's job. A new guy coming over and moving up in the American crime world is what the GTA games are going for now. I don't think they should just throw every little detail at you in a two minute trailer.
