I found this in some of my friends stuff, he didn't know where he got it from.

A Nintendo World Championship controller!

I am pretty excited to find this, it's in beautiful condition, can anyone provide any pictures, units out there or information regarding other NWC NES hardware?

I know what the NWC was all about, but it never occurred to me that there would be custom hardware.

It doesn't sound like the same controller, though further down the thread there is a comment on another controller that sounds closer:

Lexicon has a nintendo controller with neon orange and yellow dpad/buttons but that's a more "built in difference" then the sticker one. I don't know what either of these are anyway! O_O

I'll have to ask my friend, though I know he likes to trade too.

Sounds, and judging by the pictures, looks like exactly the same thing ianoid has, only retrofitted with after-market buttons and d-pad.

Are those after-market buttons really any better than the regular buttons?

Yeah, I've got one. I found it in a Seattle thrift aout 5 years ago.

I'm not sure if anyone has confirmed it came from NWC with a personal confirmation.

I do get offers for it occasionally. I think one sold on eBay in the last year for something like $300-$400. I have no interest in selling mine unless someone wants to trade me an Air Raid, an Ultravision Karate NTSC or $2k. It's not that I overvalue it, it's just that I don't want to get rid of it.

my guess is since you have to press start on controller 2 to start the game controller two was inside the "cabinets" and had some sorta (for lack of a better term...) gyromiteish device to press all the buttons at the same time when the competition starts

I have a picture of myself holding the controller back from the competion, i'll try blowing it up and see if the logo is on it for contorller 1.

Oh ok, no problem. Sounds fine to me. Just let me know.

Honestly that is just a reggular controller and have seen the colors but on diffrent controllers. Real nice design I guess but I would pass on it.

Well, you know, some of us here, on a video game collecting forum, collect video game items.

I've been dying to see better pics of these for some time. Yes, they are official, as far as I've been told by one or two finalists.

Only two that I knew of had been found, or reported to have been found. I didn't even know about that auction, so thanks! I guess that makes 3.

Do you mind if I use that pic in the book that I'm working on about the NWC? Dunno when it's coming out...probably some time next century.

I'd like to know as well. Someone else needs to unearth anohter Gold NWC one day as well. Let us at least find half of them! :)

Half have been found. I have pics of 13 of them. A 14th one was burnt up in a fire and I think I confirmed 1 more, but don't have pics of it, but memory is fuzzy and my notes are a mess, lol.

At least one went in a flood...

Damn, I'm supposed to be paying attention to this stuff. ;)

Do you have any info on the owner or any history at all?

Flood? Hmmmm, I'd think it couldn't damage an NES cart all that much...nothing unrepairable.

Any info you have would be much appreciated.

I wonder if the wizard never came out the NWC stuff would be as popular as it is?

Hard to say if the chicken was planned when the egg was hatched, or if they would have just made the chicken anyway. Ok, that sounded dumb, but you know what I mean. ;)

I have pics of another on their way to me, according to an email I received today. :) Funny timing!
