Is there a way to play as all of the characters from the SNES port?

Sorry I can't answer your question, but I did wasn to add my 2 cents about this game.

It's garbage. Really, the worst thing they ever could have done to the Double Dragon license (besides the movie and the cartoon) was try and make a half-assed Mortal Kombat clone. At this point, the cash cow was the only driving force behind any decisions. A shame really.

Anyway, hopefully now that this thread is bumped someone else can help you!

You mean not only does the "64-bit" Jaguar version of Double Dragon 5 look and sound just like the 16-bit SNES version it was ported from but you also can't even use all of the characters that you could in the SNES port?

Is that what you're saying?

If I were you, I'd write the guys over at www.classicgaming.com/doubledragon or visit the Jaguar forums over at www.atariage.com

The Double Dragon series is definitely the Mortal Kombat of the late 80's/early 90's. A great original game killed by bad sequels and by greedy companies who took the license/name and ran with it, right into the ground. Everything "bad" that has happened with the Mortal Kombat franchise over the past several years happened probably 10 years earlier, give or take, to the Double Dragon name.

Bang, you think the original MK was a great original game? I guess we'll agree to disagree here. It was certainly different but I wouldn't call it great. MKII did rock, though.

Then again, I actually enjoyed DDV and didn't think it was all that bad. I have played much worse. So goes to show you opinions will vary :p

If only Double Dragon on the NeoGeo had been an awesome side scrolling beat 'em up, instead of the shit 1on1 it ended up becoming. Oh well...

... Excuse me? Shit?

That game is very fun. Heck, a ton of people at my highschool played it for over a year, competitively, even! Why are you calling it shit?

I really didn't get on with the game tbh. Maybe 'shit' is a bit strong, but I really can't put it up there with other Neo fighters like the Last Blades or Mark of the Wolves.

Fair play if you enjoyed it, especially when it originally came out. But I didn't get to play it until after I'd experienced the best of the Neo fighters.

Now it's unofficial sequel Rage of the Dragons is another matter. Absolute quality.

I thought this game was better than most people give it credit for, but then again, I've played Shadow: War of Succession so it's near impossible to find a worse fighter. It's a shame Double Dragon is the only Neo-Geo title people talk about as Rage of Dragons in 2002 took the series to sexy hand-drawn 2v2 tag fighting and it remains as one of my favorite games on MVS.

On topic, though, I found a character list at the DD Dojo here: http://doubledragon.classicgaming.gamespy.com/games/ddv/charddv.html

The lack of any known codes I see lead to believe what you see in the game is what you get, unfortunately.
