I love games with FMV. Let me rephrase that. I love good games that have cheesy FMV cut scenes telling the story. A perfect example is Disruptor, easily my all-time favorite shooter, and one of the top 10 PSX games. Another one would be Warhawk.

I'm buying a 3DO in a couple days, and I've already bought a few games to go with it. Going by box scans, it looks like Total Eclipse is yet another game with FMV telling the story, as is Shockwave.

Personally, I want to get as many 3DO, Saturn, and PSX games that are like this. What do you guys recommend?

The first Command and Conquer game (on PS1) has some pretty hammy acting in the cutscenes.

While they're not full blown cutscenes, Revolution X has really cheesy clips of the members of Aerosmith telling you stuff like "fight the power".

Shin Shinobi Den has some great guilty pleasure FMV cutscenes. Unfortunately they took it out for the US version "Shinobi Legions"

That is so true. I bought my copy (along with an ST-Key cart) at OVGE a couple years back, and was truly shocked at the craptastic video. It was as if the programmers bought some costumes (or brought them from home in their cosplay fetish collections) and ran around the woods behind their office making a video. Painfully bad.

Isn't there a 3DO game that has a Mystery Science Theater 3000 style treatment in it's FMV? I remember reading about it in GameFan back in the day. Now that I've got a 3DO, I'd like to track that one down.

Off World Intercepter held my attention with it's bad cut scenes and even worse MST3K impersonators. They were awful, and I hust HAD to see what they would do next.

Apparently the Japanese PSX Gamera game has some fabulously cheesy FMV.

"Did he just say wiener?" LOL I was just thinking about that FMV in Off-World Interceptor Extreme too. That game was rated as Mature back in it's day. Thank goodness Mature has come a ways since then!

And I do think Gamera 2000 is the best game with the cheesiest FMV I've ever played. Everybody needs to experience that game at least once in their life!

Add to this list about half the games released for the Sega CD (some with fully FMV-based gameplay, others with FMV cutscenes only).

Oh, wait. You said good games with FMV cutscenes. Never mind, then. ;)

Almost any game by Digital Pictures has cheesy video in it, some games are better than others.

3D0:
Demolition man is not so cheesy as it has clips from the film, but it also had extra footage filmed by Stallone exclusivly for the game that advance the games story.
Twisted: Has a lot of little cheesy clips in it which is a game show party type game.
The Horde: Has quirky little clips with Kirk Cameron and is a RTS game.

PSX:
Fox Hunt: I played this at a friends house was an interactive movie game, and the clips were very cheesy.

One of my favorites has always been Loadstar on the Sega CD. It's a sort of Sewer Shark clone, only slightly more fun in my opinion, but the live action cut scenes really make the game by giving it this epic space-cowboy storyline and all starring Ned "Squeal like a pig!" Beatty.

FMV on the PCE and SEGACD was auwsome and is probably the first Video CD's in the USA besides VCD, and Laser Discs.

I actually like Double Switch for both Sega CD & Saturn (the video on the Saturn version is cleaner though). The acting and premise in the cut scenes and the game (which is also video) are absolutely hilarious in a cheesy sort of way. It's a fun challenge though, and is one of the only "good" FMV games out there in my opinion.

Terra Nova

Amazing squad based, first person action strategy game from Looking Glass that was very much a videogame version of Starship Troopers (the awesome book, not the awesome movie) but without the license (of the awesome book or the awesome movie). It's filled with wonderfully asstastic FMV sequences between missions (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M5rsuy4cGN4).

Sadly, the FMV ramped up the production budget way too high and when the game flopped (commercially, not critically!), it started Looking Glass on a steep downward financial slope that they'd never recover from. Fucking shame, too. Looking Glass was god damn awesome, Terra Nova was god damn awesome, and I'll cockpunch anyone that says otherwise.

The game is dirt cheap anymore and runs well in DOSbox (or via solVBE if it runs too slow in DOSbox for you). I strongly recommend checking it out.

The original Resident Evil on the Playstation. ;)

I was waiting for someone to say Resident Evil.

Those opening FMV's were just awful...

ill add Minnesota Fats: Pool Legend for the saturn. its another rehash of side pocket (not a bad thing) with acting that a porn director would call bad. i think the production of that game killed Fats.

Just got Solar Eclipse for the Saturn, so we can add that as well. Even though the acting is of fairly decent quality, there still are a few lines here and there, that put it in the lame/cheesy category.

I'm a big champion of Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis which would of been I good candidate for some FMV! The game was supposedly getting a Sega CD release but I imagine it would of been a straight-ish port, similar to the Sega CD edition of The Secret of Monkey Island (so no acting from MR Ford). Its slightly off topic therefore, but I think the dialogue included in the CD version which has voice-over is incredibly cheesy, and well worth a listen! ("Jones, Jones, Jones...you never learn!" etc, its classic!). Plus its a good point & click in my opinion.

Command & Conquer is the only game with real actors I can think of right now! Check it out:)
