I've been reading about a "new" Square MMO. I've hoped it would address the issues people have with FFXI. I've hoped it would be a mix of WoW and FFXI. It's hard to find any news regarding this MMO but could it be Fantasy Earth? If so, then is the Wiki correct when it states that it has already been released and it failed?
Several months after the release, Square Enix canceled the game because of severe lack of demand. The publishing rights to the game were later bought by Gamepot, where the game has enjoyed much greater success as they dropped the subscription based element present when under Square Enix's "PlayOnline" service, and became a "Free to Play" game, having recently announced over 300,000 users.
Does anybody know of another MMO Square has said they're developing? I remember them saying it isn't a sequel to FFXI, it's an entirely new IP. I just don't know if FE is the game they were talking about.
