View Full Version : Worst, most cheesiest modern game names.

Most classic games can be forgiven for having cheesy names, but in this day and age, some imagination should be used.

So... how many bad modern names can you come up with, indy or otherwise?

My vote goes for the WORST name for a game EVER:

Everyday Shooter.

UGH! Does it get any cheesier, generic, and boy band-ish?

(My apologies to Jason Craig for lifting his boy band comparison)

Um... Excite Truck anyone? I mean it just screams redneck.... TO THE EXTREME!!!!!!! :rocker:

But Excitetruck was an homage / sequel to Excitebike, so I guess all BMX ? MX'ers are redneck too :)

1. Anthing with the word Fear (Cold Fear, F.E.A.R., No Fear...) can go away.
2. Anything with an abbreviation can go away
3. Next game to use the word Extreme or any mispelling fo said word gets abolished

I always thought Coolboarders was a dumb name for a snow boarding game. Maybe it's just me....

Or any variation, thereof.

I hate anything that uses numbers for part of a word, it simply put just bothers the hell out of me. So I'll second that vote for Driv3r and on the tv side of things throw a vote in for numb3rs.

Divine Divinity and Bang! Gunship Elite.

But let's look at http://www.digitpress.com/forum/showthread.php?t=43564 instead.

Gotta admit I actuall pronounce Driv3r as 'driv-three-ar'. same goes for wipthreeout too.

But back on topic, I always thought 'King of Fighters Maximum Impact' left itself open to far too many witty headlines beginning with the word 'minimum'.

Everyday Shooter is more confusing and pretentious than bad, I'd say. I still don't see the "boy band" comparison being tossed around...care to explain that one?

I think "storm" in the title is pretty crappy most of the time, a la Mutant Storm, Bladestorm and Motorstorm.

I've also never been a fan of games having a subtitle divided with a colon, like Uncharted: Drake's Fortune. While I understand the inevitable need to do this with sequels, it feels stupid to have them on the first volume of a series or potential series.

XBLA games and PSN games are often just retarded:

- Every Extend Extra Extreme
- Space Giraffe
- Pixeljunk Racers
- Shrek-N-Roll
- Street Trace: NYC
- Eets: Chowdown
- Cloning Clyde
- Wik & the Fable of Souls
- Outpost Kaloki X
- Super Rub-a-Dub
- Cash Guns Chaos DLX

Nothing says "this was originally a free Flash game" like an uninspired, insipid title.

Basically, as with most problematic things in life, the problem stems at not knowing when to stop, or not having the tact to limit oneself to a basic one ore two-word title.

I always liked "Guilty Gear XX#Reload: The Midnight Carnival" - what the heck is that?

While I understand the inevitable need to do this with sequels, it feels stupid to have them on the first volume of a series or potential series.I totally agree, and that kind of bugs me. I mean, do the game FIRST, and if it warrants a sequel, so be it.

Also, any game that fits into this category.

Consider that one seconded.

I'll also add "Infinite Undiscovery", an upcoming Xbox 360 game by Tri-Ace. Who's in charge of translating game names when things come to North America anyways?

Although Revengers of Vengance is pretty bad too. Funny also.

It's probably not all that cheesy, but I remember saying it sounded like a code phrase for having your balls grabbed. LOL

That's exactly what it is. There's lots of stuff in the game like that. Many of us miss it because we're American.

Man do I hate those Colon Subtitle games. And movies. I think it hit me when I worked at the video store, and would hear kids going "hey can we rent Movie: the longass subtitle?". Seeing kids that brainwashed into parroting the entire stupid title of stuff just stuck with me. Stupid subtitles.

...yet, i like the kind of subtitles that show you what the guy talking in another language is saying, so I both love and hate two things with the same name.

I also find it suspicious the fact the evil guy in the game has chosen to tie up kids all over his house.

I didn't like the game at all.. the controls where horrible at best.
