View Full Version : The controller slot 1 on my Ps2 won't work anymore

I've tried multiple controllers in it to determine that it is the slot and not the controller. I've tried blowing out the slot, wasn't dusty. The Analog button still lights up red, but no button activity. Im thinking of going into the PS2 and changing the guts to put the connection to the controller 2 to be controller 1, so i can at least game with it. Now ive just been using it as a dvd player.

Any comments would rock. Thanks all.

It's my understanding that the PSX/2 controller ports have a fuse. Try changing that out.

If it was here, we would replace the controller block component.

I'll second that, I've had to replace a few of those in PS2's I've repaired.

cool, looks like i now know what to try. I wish i could somehow fix it or flip it around but no go. Does anyone on here have one for sale? I dont know if its a 2 or 3 hole one yet but i will crack it open tomorrow. I am going to chip it as well later when i get this controller issue handled. Love for the chips!

when you have it open, clean all the connections thoroughly, see if that helps first.

yeah i sadly already cleaned and made sure everything was clean and hooked up correctly. I just need to find a block some day soon.

Ok, new idea.. how about this guys.. hardwiring a controller to the system. I just want to make the thing functional. Please let me know if anyone has schematics for the wire connecting the block to the main board.

Thanks again for all your great help on here guys. Its all very welcoming.
