My co-founder and I took a good portion of the today creating our first video Top 10 list for chicagogamersclub.com.

You guys are not only always brutally honest, but I respect your opinions too. For those that don't know what the "CGC" is, here's a simple synopsis:
adult gamers get together once a month to talk about games and get drunk.

www.chicagogamersclub.com (http://www.chicagogamersclub.com)

ok, back to the list. We've posted it on the official site, so go there and take a view. Beyond whether you agree with the Top 10 or not, we'd also appreciate feedback on the video itself. Clearly, this is supposed to be stupid, and we're just trying to create an audience.

I like how you did it not dwelling to long on each game. I would of liked to have seen Eternal Champions on the list. Sega has sat on that franchise for too long.
Also Darkstalkers needs a new game and keep it 2D capcom.

Yeah, I like the quick runthrough like that... no extensive arguments in favor that people can just use for fodder to disagree with you.

I think a real Shining Force (none of this neo and ring crap) game needs to be made. Put it on the handhelds.

BTW, I loved how you tore apart the Greenpeace rating in the previous article...

The Samus figure used the SNES as a credential of her age in comparison to Double Dragon. Wouldn't the NES game where it all began be a better argument for her?

Wow - only one non-nintendo console game??

Pretty bland list, considering the only ones I agreed with were Power Stone and Kid Icarus.

It needs some multi-format love, a little bit of a volume level (I can't believe it's not butter was too low, and the squeals of Master Chief pierced the speakers like a knife), and a little bit more thought in the choices of games...but other than that...good start!

Road Rash definitely needs a revival. I'd love to see a burnout / NFS crossover with bikers and fights. Imagine walking into a bar, seeing a rival, getting into a fist fight, then the cops come so you hop on your bike being chased by them, you see your rival on another road, so you beat the crap outta them with a chain, kick their bick into the dirt on the side of the road, and stop both your rival AND the cops in the process. That'd be Kick ass!

I didn't expect to enjoy the video, but I wound up enjoying it. My only suggestion is to work on the audio side a bit more...maybe redub the voices with better mics afterwards?..other than that, I totally dug the quick pace, use of the frame, and the basic-but-effective visual effects.

tl;dr - I just subscribed to your YouTube channel.

Niether of these are franchises, but both Eternal Darkness and Beyond Good & Evil (probably my two favorite games from the last generation) were left begging for sequels, and unfortunately neither sold well enough to warrant one from a profit standpoint.

An awesome 2d side-scrolling Sonic!!! Forget this 3d garbage... Another awesome 2d Mario on the Gamecube for us poor folks who can't afford a new system too! And yes I know about New Mario Bros. of course, but I don't like handhelds and it's not exactly cheap, the DS. Another Wipeout on a console would be nice too. Again, I don't like handhelds... It really sucks that the vid game industry abandons perfectly good hardware when new systems come out... I'm getting tired of the new system trend because there really isn't that much a diff. in the newer systems. Just updated 3d graphics. And the Wii.

Eternal Darkness sold extremely well. If you sell well enough to qualify for Player's Choice status then you sure as hell sold well enough to warrant a sequel. Aren't there musings of a sequel being worked on? Not sure if it's one of those Surfer Girl rumors or if it's a more widespread and accepted one. Honestly, I hope it's not true. SK needs to put all of the resources they can into making sure Too Human doesn't wind up being an undercooked mess.

Beyond Good & Evil is getting a sequel. Apparently part of the deal Ancel made with Ubisoft over getting his name used to sell Rayman Raving Rabbids and having creative control taken from him was allowing him to continue his Beyond Good & Evil series. Sounds kinda win-win to me. Raving Rabbids sells well and spins off into its own successful franchise while Ubi gets artfag cred for reviving an extremely well received but underperforming franchise.

Sonic -> They've been releasing 2d Sonic games on GBA and DS for years now. If you don't like playing on a portable then you can at the very least emulate the GBA ones on your PC.
Wipeout -> Getting a new version on PS3

I'll also add Rayman to that list.

And before you point out that Rayman is still around... No.

Raving Rabids suck. I want the platformer Rayman back.

I'm happy to see you guys enjoyed it. As far as the Nintendo selection goes, that was entirely based on one somewhat regrettable choice: only pull games from my collection to showcase.

We really wanted to have the actual cartridge featured, and it turned out being a questionable choice. I'm sure we won't make a similar decision next time. Also, for those of you that liked the video, we'd reeeaallllyy appreciate you clicking on the digg button below the video on the page.

I think too many of these Top 10 whatever lists and gaming sites take themselves too seriously. Our goal was to have fun, and make a good topic that gamers would like to discuss.

A worthy successor to X-Com: UFO Defense would be incredible.

Enjoyed the video, and agree that the quick runthrough was the way to go.

All I remember is that, mere months after it was released, Eternal Darkness saw a massive price drop, and was already selling at $15 for a brand new copy. That's when I bought it, and I bought copies for most of my friends as gifts, too, as I had the loved the game to death after renting it. I can't imagine the profit margin could have been all that high. If it does get a sequel, when they're done with Too Human (like that's ever going to happen) I'll be ecstatic.

However, thank you for letting me know the scoop on BG&E. I totally hadn't heard about that, and I'm now giddy with anticipation.

I can't recall that. BG&E I believe got a price drop pretty quick.

I snagged it for $10 about 2 months after it came out (Came out in Nov 03, bought it in Jan 04) and felt a little dirty about it. Damn shame how poorly it sold across all four platforms. The only one I haven't bought yet was the PC version, but I've heard it had some unique issues/bugs/quirks.

One of these days I'll play through that one on Gametap any damn way.

Hell, I think I may play through the Gamecube version in the very near future just for the hell of it.

Count me in over X-COM, I keep watching Ebay for the collected version that's suppose to be playable on Windows XP, still have the PS1 version too.

We definitely missed the boat on not including BG&E. Maybe we'll just do another Top 10 with the same topic later this year.

Or on a GameCube with a Game Boy Player.
